Job Description

To provide the highest quality age-appropriate care within the scope of practice and established standards for electrocardiography, pacemaker analysis, and cardiac stress testing. Performs prescribed Non-Invasive Cardiology testing to identified patients. To proactively support the efforts that ensures delivery of safe patient care and services and to promote a safe environment at Children's.

Education

Bachelor’s degree in related field or Certified Cardiology Technologist

Certification Summary

Basic Life Support (BLS) within 30 days of employmentPediatric Emergency Assessment, Recognition and Stabilization (PEARS) within 1 year of employment

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

Good understanding of cardiac anatomy and physiology and arrhythmiasMust possess excellent communication, organization, and interpersonal skills

Job Responsibilities for Cardiology Technologist

Performs electrocardiogram procedures for interpretation incorporating age related and developmental specific requirements.Performs cardiopulmonary exercise testing and stress echo testing with respiratory gas measurements and spirometry in a clinical setting incorporating age related and developmental specific requirements.Performs Holter monitor placement and analysis incorporating age related and developmental specific requirements.Assist with pacemaker clinic as directed by physician incorporating age related and developmental specific requirements.Ensures accuracy of all patient documentation.Maintains professional development.Participates in the achievement of organizational and departmental goals.Performs related responsibilities as required.

Job Responsibilities for Cardiac Device Specialist

In collaboration with the physicians and providers, analyzes and reprograms various brands of pacemakers and defibrillators for device clinic patients and inpatients.Processes transmissions from home monitoring equipment.Communicates effectively and regularly with patient families.Serve as the primary educator for patients, staff, fellows, and physicians for relevant topics.Troubleshoots technical issues with the IS&T department and contacts device companies regarding device issues and questions.Serve as a liaison between patients/families and device companies.Coordinates management of care of patients in the device clinic.Participate in staff meetings and trainings and assist in coordination or delivery of continuing education for clinical and support staff.Work closely with the Sibley Cardiology Practice in the development and implementation of quality initiatives and process improvement.
