Essential Functions 

Communicates effectively with all patients, visitors, physicians and hospital personnel, consistently demonstrating exceptional customer service behaviors. Performs therapeutic procedures as prescribed by the physician. Reports immediately to physician and/or appropriate team members changes in patient condition/behavior. Consistently participates in patient/significant other health education and discharge planning. Culture Consistently reports to work on time prepared to begin assignment within seven minutes prior to beginning assigned shift. Completes daily responsibilities, including patient care documentation, within the assigned work shift. Notifies supervisor in advance when assigned duties are determined to exceed scheduled work time. Functions as an active team member, offering suggestions and/or recommendations for change based on data gathered, technical skill/knowledge, respiratory care principles and on interactions with other hospital personnel. Consistently follows departmental and hospital chains of command. Participates in orientation of new staff/students to the department. Demonstrates active participation in departmental performance improvement and staff development activities. Completes PI audits as directed. Completes staff development/competency improvement modules as directed. Attends 80% of scheduled annual staff meetings. Presents clinical case studies to peers as scheduled. Maintains current compliance with departmental standards for BLS, ACLS, PALS, and NRP training. Demonstrates receptiveness to new ideas. Demonstrates flexibility to changing systems. Work Processes Provides quality patient/client care, complying with all federal, state and JCAHO regulations, departmental/hospital policies and procedures, environmental, safety and infection control standards. Provides patient/client care in an independent manner requiring minimal supervision; consistently demonstrating the ability to assess, evaluate and select appropriate interventions. Develops and maintains ongoing competency in the development needs of patients/clients across the agespan. Maintains working knowledge of all respiratory care equipment and patient care supplies; ensures appropriate stock levels are maintained. Maintains compliance with departmental and/or product specific cleaning requirements. Ensures clean equipment is readily available for oncoming shift. Consistently observes equipment for repair needs, removing equipment from use as indicated, and following departmental procedures to initiate the repair process. Participates in the ordering of patient care supplies as directed. Contributes to the reduction/maintenance of operational expense through active participation in the management of department resources.  Other Duties: PULMONARY FUNCTION TECHNOLOGISTService: Performs diagnostic procedures in accordance with ATS standards and as ordered by the physician. Consistently processes completed test results to intended recipient in a timely manner. Assists physicians as indicated with recommendations and evaluation for intended diagnostic testing outcomes.

Qualifications and requirements 

High School Diploma or Equivalent   Associate's degree- Required   BLS- Required CERTIFIED OR REGISTERED STATUS WITH THE NATIONAL BOARD OF RESPIRATORY CARE (NBRC) 3+ years Acute Respiratory Care Exp. Including neonatal & critical care - Preferred
