RESPONSIBILITIES
I. JOB SUMMARY/RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Performs both invasive and non-invasive procedures required for cardiovascular and cardiac electrophysiologic system diagnosis and therapeutic interventions according to established safety procedures.
• Provides patient care during procedures.
II. TYPICAL PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
• Essential: standing, sitting, lifting and pushing/pulling maximum weight of 50 pounds of force, carrying usual weight of 10 pounds, reaching above, at and below shoulder level, repetitive arm/hand motions, static gripping of an object for prolonged periods, frequent gripping of an object.
• Continuous: seeing, hearing, speaking.
• Occasional: stooping/bending, kneeling, crawling, climbing stairs, walking on uneven ground, squatting, finger dexterity.
• Operates various office equipment/machines, radiologic/hemodynamic/electrophysiologic equipment.
III. TYPICAL WORKING CONDITIONS:
• Not substantially subjected to adverse environmental conditions.
• Subjected to noise/vibration from radiographic equipment.
• Frequent exposure to body fluids, communicable diseases, moving mechanical parts, chemicals, and radiation.
• Exposed to chemical odors and skin irritants.
• Work environment is fast paced and stressful with constant changes in priorities.
• Assigned on-call schedule as required.
IV. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
A. EDUCATION/CERTIFICATION AND LICENSURE:
• Current status as a Registered Cardiovascular Invasive Specialist (RCIS) or Registered Cardiac Electrophysiology Specialist (RCES) by Cardiovascular Credentialing International (CCI); or one (1) year work experience as a Cardiovascular Technologist in a comparable Cardiac Catheterization Laboratory may be substituted for the certification requirement.
• CPR certification in BCLS and ACLS.
B. EXPERIENCE:
• In addition to certification or its equivalency, one (1) year work experience as a Cardiovascular Technologist in a comparable Cardiac Catheterization Laboratory.
• Experience and demonstrated knowledge in cardiac caths, percutaneous coronary interventions, pacemaker/ICD implants, valvuloplasties, and electrophysiology studies.
