Cardiovascular and Peripheral Vascular Technician

About this unit   

The MHC OR consists of 9 operating rooms including 4 hybrid ORs that both the vascular and cardiovascular service lines utilize.  The integrated PV/CV team takes care of all peripheral vascular cases (AAA, fem-pops, EVAR, angios, carotids etc.) and cardiothoracic cases (CABG, Valve, TAVR, Robotics, VAD, Transplant, Lung surgery).  In joining this team, you will be part of one of the largest cardiovascular OR teams in the nation.  Our team prides itself on taking care of the team members by offering an excellent orientation and ensuring each member is fully trained to perform their role.  This in turn ensures the best outcomes for our patients as competent staff deliver the highest quality care.

Scope of work

Prepares and positions patient for the procedure. Supports and collects necessary data to ensure the safety and quality expectations are met for the patient and the team. Provides sterile instruments and supplies during the diagnostic and invasive cardiac procedures. Assists with and operates supporting equipment needed for procedure. Equipment may include recording system, mapping system, ultrasound system, advanced circulatory pumps, laser equipment and other equipment as needed. Maintains documentation of the procedure for accurate clinical, hemodynamic, billing and quality requirements. Administers medications under the immediate direction of the physician. Prepares room for cardiac and vascular procedures, restocks room as necessary, and cleans and prepares equipment, stretchers, work areas and reusable supplies, returning unneeded equipment to appropriate area. Communicates and collaborates with patients and other members of the health care team in order to ensure continuity and coordination of services. Responsible for learning and understanding radiology platforms. Assisting the OR staff and surgeon for all OR procedures and will be responsible documentation throughout.

Qualifications  

High school diploma or equivalent- Required CRT-Basic Life Support (BLS) - AHA American Heart Association 90 days OR CRT-Basic Life Support (BLS) - ARC American Red Cross 90 Days- RequiredAssociate's Degree health care related field- PreferredRadiology experince- PreferredDirect patient care in the acute care/hospital setting- PreferredKnowledge of ECG tracings - PreferredPrevious procedural experience – Preferred
