Cardiovascular Nuclear Medicine Supervisor

Position Summary / Career Interest:The supervisor is responsible for the daily operations of the nuclear medicine technologists who are using radiopharmaceutical, gamma cameras, PET scanners, and computers safely, effectively and cost consciously to produce physiologic functional images and quantitative data as well as cross sectional images that assist in the diagnosis and treatment of the patient’s disease.

Responsibilities and Essential Job FunctionsFunctions with limited supervision ensuring the imaging modalities operate with the highest level of quality and using best practice efficiency Utilizes proven leadership experience to promote, design and develop strategies for the success of the department Provides expert leadership through abilities to perform cardiac nuclear imaging and stress testing procedures.  This is to be interpreted as providing patient care to fill in for technologists during absences, shortages, meal breaks, etc. Ensures planning, educating, and accountability to provide "World Class" patient care Plans, directs and supervises the activity of all technical and support staff of this department as well as works collaboratively with all leadership and staff in the division and health system Supports maintenance, evaluation and performance of all equipment as directed by leadership Responsible for ensuring that all work is performed in an efficient, organized, and safe manner Administers Oral and IV pharmaceuticals within professional scope of practice, department and health system policies and procedures Works with various staff including physicians, nurses, residents, etc. to optimize patient care Responsible for the preparation of all reports and documentation to support the division including staffing, performance improvements, and department re-certification. Must be able to perform the professional, clinical and or technical competencies of the assigned unit or department. Required Education and ExperienceHigh School Graduate Nuclear Medicine Technology graduate of an AMA-approved Nuclear Medicine Technology Training Program. 3 or more years Proven technical competence and expanding leadership accountability in a mid to large size hospital with credible volumes Radiology - Documented experience: PET and CT Cardiovascular - Documented experience: PET
Preferred Education and ExperienceBachelors Degree with meaning related to technical or managerial performance requirements Experience in an Academic setting
Required Licensure and CertificationNuclear Medicine Technology (N) - American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) OR Certified Nuclear Medicine Technologist (CNMT) - Nuclear Medicine Technology Certification Board (NMTCB) Licensed Radiologic Technologist (LRT) - Kansas Board of Healing Arts (KSBHA) Basic Cardiac Life Support (BLS or BCLS) - American Heart Association (AHA) Computed Tomography (CT) - American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) required for Radiology position, optional for Cardiovascular Medicine positions
Preferred Licensure and CertificationPositron Emission Technology Certification (PET) - Nuclear Medicine Technology Certification Board (NMTCB)
