Position Summary: To assist the physician in the performance of interventional cardiac procedures, with a clear understanding and demonstration of the principles of sterile technique. Maintain a collaborative relationship with the interventional team including physicians, nursing and ancillary staff in the department. Contribute to the operational duties of the entire department.
Education, License & Cert: • Graduate of Accredited Radiological Technologist program ‐ AAS Degree preferred • LPN License • Graduate of approved Surgical Tech program • Registered Cardiovascular Interventional Specialist (RCIS) • Appropriate medical training background as deemed appropriate by dept
Experience: One year experience of Cardiovascular Interventional procedures preferred (Electrophysiology and/or Interventional Cardiology)
Essential Functions: 1. Exhibits knowledge of the anatomy and physiology of the cardiovascular system. 2. Demonstrates competence in technical skills relative to area of practice (ie Electrophysiology(EP) or Interventional Cardiology (CCL) 3. Practices within the scope of current policies and procedures of the hospital, nursing department and unit guidelines 4. Applies principles of sterilization and disinfection to promote an infection‐free environment 5. Demonstrates the ability to communicate key clinical observations to the physician as well as all team members 6. Prepares/assemblies sterile and non‐sterile supplies as needed 7. Demonstrates competency in emergency situations and use of emergency equipment 8. Maintains safe environment by keeping equipment clear and in working order. Reports any need for repair/replacement 9. Demonstrates knowledge of the principles of radiation 10. Assists with cleaning and stocking rooms daily 11. Willing to cross‐train to other duties within the department. 12. Attends and participates in department meetings 13. Completes mandatory department and housewide inservices as required 14. Completes specific annual department competencies, after initial orientation completion 15. Assists in the orientation of new staff. 16. Utilizes positive interpersonal skills in all forms of communications
Other Duties: 1. Ability to deal with stressful situations 2. Assist in maintaining a clean, safe environment 3. Participates in all quality initiatives within the department or hospital ‐wide 4. Demonstrates willingness to accept non‐routine work assignments
