Career Development Manager
WHAT YOU'LL DO

As a Career Development Manager for the Great Lakes system, you will partner closely with the CD Director to deliver an excellent Career Development (CD) experience to our Consulting Team (CT) staff and CD stakeholders. Career Development encompasses the core performance management processes for our Consulting Team, including project-based downward feedback; upward feedback for team managers; twice-yearly holistic assessment by the Career Development Committee (CDC); the Feedback Foundations experience enabling a development-focused start for new Associates and Consultants; and enablement of CD Advisors and team leaders to deliver rich ongoing developmental conversations and experiences throughout the BCG journey.

This includes key responsibilities across several buckets of day-to-day activities, including:

CDC meeting preparation and management, e.g.,

Own end-to-end process management of assigned CDC(s)

Oversee meeting readiness and communicate with CT and CD Advisors to ensure key pre-meeting tasks are completed to standards of quality and timeliness

Contribute to CDC meeting discussion, e.g., on questions of policy, precedent, best practice

Ensure post-meeting outcomes and updates are captured

Over time recognize themes and patterns across profiles and cohorts

Management of downward and upward feedback, e.g.,

Hold CT and CD Advisors accountable to standards of timeliness and quality

Act as source of truth on review process-related questions

Support and enablement of local CD leadership (CD Chairs, Business Management Leader, Office Leader, CD Advisors, Talent Managers), e.g.,

Organizing and contributing to pre-meeting deep-dive discussions and post-meeting debriefs

Overseeing assignments of CD Advisors to CT staff within assigned cohorts

Contributing information and insights to Talent team check-ins on timely topics

Communications to office/system CT staff, e.g.,

Co-facilitating onboarding sessions, trainings, and cohort meetings

Drafting communications to local CT on timely topics and updates

Participation and leadership of strategic efforts to drive best-in-class career experience for Seattle CT

Partner closely with Talent Managers, HR, and Business Management Leaders to develop and deliver local strategic initiatives

Participate in regularly discussions as a member of the Consulting People Team in Seattle

Other ongoing support, e.g.,

Supporting year-end bonus process

Supporting CD activities and meetings for Great Lakes and NAMR offices as needs arise

Sharing best practices with peers throughout NAMR on regular regional CD touchpoints

YOU BRING (EXPERIENCE & QUALIFICATIONS)

BA/BS degree required with 5+ years related work experience

Prior experience at BCG or another management consulting firm highly preferred

Experience in a People-related role highly preferred


YOU'LL WORK WITH

You’ll team closely with Consulting People Team leaders including the Business Management Leader, Talent and Staffing Team, and CD Leadership (including the Office Leader and Managing Director & Partners who serve as CD Chairs), as well as a cadre of senior Consulting Team staff who serve as Career Development Advisors and are among BCG’s most dedicated people developers.

Compensation Information:

Total compensation for this role includes base salary, annual discretionary performance bonus, contributions to BCG’s Profit Sharing and Retirement Fund (PSRF), and a market leading benefits package described below.
