Tomlinson Infrastructure is currently seeking an Operations Manager to join the team. The Operations Manager will oversee Superintendents, Foremen, crews, and administrative staff for the construction of integrated infrastructure projects (piling and shoring, structures, sewers, watermains, excavation, grading, roads and asphalt). A key responsibility of the Operations Manager is to grow and develop the technical and leadership skills of the field operations. Responsible for maintaining industry expertise, knowledge, innovation, and organization across all projects, the Operations Manager works closely with Construction Managers to balance project requirements, available resources, and budgetary responsibility.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Work closely with General Managers, Construction Managers and other Operations Managers from various divisions to set and/or implement policies, procedures, and systems and to follow through with implementation. Promote Tomlinson Core Values. Build and maintain relationships with clients and agencies. Ensure that all operations meet or exceed our Health and Safety Plan. Teach, promote and enforce our CoR safety plan, participate in regular CoR reviews, identify and implement safety initiatives. Lead the field operations team to construct works to defined schedule, budget and quantities. Monitor job financial performance. Work with the field operations team to review operations, implement construction best practices. Ensure productivity of field operations, recording achieved productions, and communicating unit costs to estimation for incorporation into future bids. Promote, teach and implement innovation to the field operations team. Review P6 schedule weekly (including resource allocation) to provide a macro level work on hand schedule for all field operations. Allocates crews and equipment in a way to ensure maximum efficiencies – daily, two-week look ahead – meeting contract deadlines and balancing customer expectations. Employee Management: Writes and delivers evaluations and development plans to direct reports. Leads the growth, development, mentoring, and succession planning activities for employees in the division. Conducts regular, scheduled 1:1s with direct reports and ensures they occur throughout the division. Defines direct reports performance goals and insures alignment with overall corporate goals. Makes salary and bonus recommendations. Communicates and enforces corporate discipline policy. Participates in employee 9 Cell evaluations. Is responsible for employee hiring and union liaison. Provide input into capital purchasing of equipment. Provide input into maintenance of construction equipment. Promote and enforce the highest quality control standards. Communicate and understand the progress of the projects (issues, claims etc.). Participate in the decision on what work and where to bid to maintain a full schedule. Attends all management meetings, when required. Participate in start-up project site meetings, where possible. Attend financial meetings once a month and review the divisional monthly budget. Perform analysis of our inventory and ensure we are utilizing our inventory effectively, purchasing the right equipment, maintaining solid inventory data and reduce sub-rental expenses. Contribute operations information and recommendations to strategic plans and reviews; prepare and complete action plans; implement production, productivity, quality and customer-service standards; resolve problems; identify trends.
QUALIFICATIONS
Civil Engineering degree or CET or additional equivalent experience. 15+ years working in construction. Proven leadership, communications, and employee development skills. 5+ years in a supervisory role, contributing to planning and strategy implementation. Demonstrated ability to interface with clients and third parties in a positive, solution-driven approach.TOMLINSON OFFERS:
