Organization Overview:Goddard Riverside is a well-established Manhattan community-based agency with an annual operating budget of approximately $ 50 million. Goddard Riverside is one of New York City’s leading human service organizations meeting the basic needs of children, youth and families, homeless people, and older adults across Manhattan and New York City.
Position Summary: The Education and Workforce Development Department is seeking experienced, dynamic, and highly focused individual(s) to serve as the founding Career Services Coordinator in its Train and Earn Program located within Lincoln Square Neighborhood Center. This role operates under the direction of the program’s Director of Train and Earn and is responsible for encouraging success in job attainment and retention for 60 participants annually. In collaboration with the larger Career and Alumni Services Hub (CASH) team, the Career Services Coordinator will provide guidance and assistance services for young adults pursuing employment opportunities in the Healthcare Sector. The Career Service Coordinator will focus on the development of referrals, resources, and workforce development networks that will support participants over time, ultimately yielding successful outcomes leading to long-term success.
Schedule:Mon-Fri, 35 hours per week, 9:30am-5:30pm
Salary Range:$64,350 - $66,280.50
Candidates must have the required qualifications to be considered for the position. The salary offer will be based on the candidate’s number of years experience in the exact or comparable position and additional preferred qualifications will be taken into account.
Roles, Responsibilities, and Essential Duties

1. Partnerships & Development – 20%
+ Identify and secure 10-20+ external employment partnerships to support Education and Workforce ACCESS programming (Train and Earn).
+ Build and maintain strong employer relationships to expand the employer network.
+ Collaborate with the Director of Train and Earn and Career and Alumni Services Hub (CASH) team to assemble an Employer Advisory Council to support equitable access to employment.
+ Support grant proposals by attaining letters of support from employer and community partners.
+ Other duties as assigned related to partnerships and employer development.
2. Career Services – 40%
+ Support the placement of 60 participants annually into sector-focused internships and high-quality paid employment.
+ Build and maintain a client-facing job board with current job opportunities.
+ Coordinate and participate in job fairs, workshops, and networking events.
+ Provide career counseling and job readiness training for at-risk youth facing employment barriers.
+ Work with Career and Alumni Services Team to develop and facilitate job search strategies, resume development, and interview preparation.
+ Engage with employers to ensure participants and alumni access competitive job opportunities.
+ Re-place current participants and alumni who are unemployed, underemployed, or seeking better opportunities.
+ Mentor and coach participants one-on-one or in small groups for job preparation and career advancement.
+ Track participant progress and employment outcomes, maintaining accurate records in Salesforce and DYCD Connect.
+ Other tasks as assigned related to career services.
3. Professional Development and Upskilling – 20%
+ Facilitate or arrange workshops covering professional development and certification topics.
+ Support the scheduling of experiential learning opportunities to maintain participant engagement.
+ Provide ongoing coaching and support for professional skill development and career progression.
4. Data Entry and Project Management – 20%
+ Maintain accurate and timely data entry in Salesforce and DYCD Connect for participant records, job placements, and employer interactions.
+ Track weekly, bi-weekly, monthly, and quarterly data to meet reporting requirements and program outcomes.
+ Assist in managing projects related to workforce development initiatives, ensuring tasks are completed on time and within scope.
+ Prepare progress reports and ensure documentation aligns with grant and organizational requirements.
+ Coordinate with interdisciplinary teams to track project milestones and outcomes.
Qualifications/Educational Requirements: At least three (3) years of successful and relevant experience serving OSOW youth, including but not limited to, job development, employer engagement, recruitment, and targeted industry experience in the proposed sector.

+ Sufficient familiarity with employment trends, job readiness, and placement strategies to support participants effectively.
+ Understanding basic labor market information and employment barriers faced by youth and young adults.
+ Proficiency in data entry and reporting within systems such as Salesforce and DYCD Connect to maintain accurate participant records and employment outcomes.
2.General Knowledge
+ Understanding of city systems, including employment access, civil service, and education services
+ Awareness of how these systems impact participants’ ability to secure and maintain employment.
+ Familiarity with local workforce development programs, community organizations, and support networks for youth employment.
3.Thorough Knowledge
+ In-depth knowledge of current and emerging labor market trends, employer needs, and career pathways across various industries.
+ Understanding of high-growth sectors and opportunities for youth and young adults.
4.Comprehensive Knowledge
+ Extensive understanding of the full scope of workforce development programs, including job placement, retention strategies, and upskilling opportunities.
+ Ability to design and implement comprehensive strategies for participant success in employment and career advancement.
+ Mastery of tracking participant progress, employment outcomes, and program performance metrics to inform decision-making and ensure compliance with funder requirements.
+ Deep understanding of equitable access to employment opportunities and strategies for reducing systemic barriers faced by marginalized populations
5.Skills:workforce development, career readiness, job placement processes, and the employment barriers young adults face.
Physical Requirements/Working Conditions
+ You may be required to lift up to 25lbs or less.
+ Standing for extended periods while facilitating workshops and events
+ Environment: The role involves working in an office setting, program sites, and occasionally in the community. Work may be conducted both in-person and virtually.
+ Emotional Demands: The position involves working with participants who may be experiencing personal, social, or economic challenges. The Career Services Coordinator must be prepared to navigate emotionally charged situations and collaborate with the Participant Support team to support individuals facing mental health concerns, trauma, and systemic barriers.
+ Stress Factors: This role requires managing multiple cases, meeting deadlines, and adapting to evolving participant needs, which may contribute to periods of high stress.
+ Mental Health Awareness: The organization encourages maintaining mental well-being and offers resources or support programs for staff mental health, including supervision, counseling resources, or wellness initiatives.
