Career Valve Technician

TrinityRail Maintenance Services, Inc.is searching for a talented team player to fill the open position of Career Valve Technician at our Shell Rock IA office. 

What you’ll do:

Perform disassembly, cleaning, inspection, measuring, assembly and testing of valves included but not limited to, safety valves, XS flow valves, heater coils, or bottom outlet valves Responsible for repair and testing of various valves, including but not limited to ball valves, gate valves, butterfly valves, safety relief valves, etc. Examine valves parts for defects, dents, or loose attachments, and mark malfunctioning areas of defective units.   Disconnect and/or remove defective or unauthorized valves.  Replace defective parts and reassemble units according to customer specifications Test valves and gauges for leaks and accurate temperature and pressure settings, using precision testing equipment Follow all schematics and documented procedures in accordance with all Quality Control and ASME National Board standards that apply to the job Thoroughly complete all maintenance, calibration and documentation associated with testing and repairs to include test results, material usage and repairs made Travel to job sites when required and adhere to all site safety and performance requirement May train others in the standards and processes of the role

What you’ll need: 

High School Diploma or GED and 2-5 years industrial valve repair experience, or an equivalent number of years of education and experience  Experience with repairing various valves and actuators, whether pneumatic, hydraulic or electric Mechanically inclined and able to use a variety of power tools, hand tools and cutting torches to perform required tasks Must be able to work in confined spaces and at elevated heights  Must be able to read and comprehend basic drawings and scope of work Must be able to accurately read a tape measure Must possess basic math skills, addition, subtraction, multiplication and division of all units of measure using whole numbers, common fractions and decimals.
