Position Details Location Hattiesburg 118 College Drive Hattiesburg, Mississippi, 39406-0001 United States Division Building Maintenance Position Type Staff Employment Status Full Time Grant Funded No Salary Range 13.00 - 13.00 Pay Grade N03 Posting Close Date Open Until Filled Job Summary Performs general carpentry work to include lay out, construction, repair, and renovation on all USM buildings. Primary Duties and Responsibilities + Performs general carpentry work in the construction, repair, and renovations of floors, roofs, stairways, partitions, doors, windows, and screens from blueprints, sketches, and verbal instructions. + Installs glass in windows, doors, and partitions and replaces damaged ceiling tiles, floor tiles, and equipment as assigned. + Selects, cuts, trims, and processes lumber as specified using hand and power tools and woodworking machines such as power saws, band saws, jointers, planes, and drill presses. + Sand cabinets, worktables, and other wooden articles. Minimum Qualifications One year certificate from college or technical school; or three to six months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Knowledge, Skills & Abilities + Knowledge of, or the ability to learn, University policies and procedures. + Skill in completing assignments accurately and with attention to detail. + Skill in determining the kind and use of standard tools and equipment of the profession as well as the ability to maintain and care for hand and power tools. + Ability to perform maintenance, to follow instructions, and to interpret drawings and diagrams. + Ability to analyze, organize and prioritize work while meeting multiple deadlines. + Ability to set priorities and complete assignments on time. + Ability to obtain a driver’s license prior to employment. + Ability to work evenings, nights, and weekends as necessary. + Ability to react quickly and calmly in emergency situations. + Ability to operate office machines, including calculator, and personal computer.
