The Carpenter / Locksmith i nstalls, repairs, modifies , and opens a variety of locking mechanisms found on doors, desks, compartments, mobile equipment, safes , and vaults. They will also m anufacture keys; i nstall lock cores; r e-core and re-pin locks; c hange lock combinations (including safes, GSA containers, electronic locks, and entry controls); and d isassemble and repair locks such as padlocks, safe locks, and door locks.
All employees must have proof of U.S. citizenship, a valid state driver’s license, and be eligible for base access.

This position is contingent upon successful contract award to V2X.
Responsibilities
Major Job Activities:
+ Replaces worn tumblers, springs, and other parts.
+ Moves lockpick in cylinder to open door locks without keys.
+ Upon request, conduct inspections on vault locks and safe locks to assist in determining if the safe can be certified for the security level it is to be used for.
+ Maintain key and lock logs for buildings, containers, and equipment as outlined in our contract.
+ Maintain records as outlined in the contract.
+ Perform preventative carpentry maintenance.
+ Perform carpentry services to repair, install, and replace buildings and structures and associated components.
+ Fabrication, installation, and repair of items such as wooden doors, floors, walls, ceilings, exterior structures, windows, cabinets, shelves , handrails, bulletin boards, and other hardware associated with buildings and structures.
+ Perform other duties as assigned in accordance with contractual, functional, and mission requirements.
Material & Equipment Directly Used:
+ May be exposed to potentially hazardous conditions that require wear of hard hats, gloves, steel toed boots, hearing protection, safety glasses and other personal protection equipment (PPE) such as flak vest and Kevlar helmet; may be required to push, pull, and lift heavy equipment.
+ Use of cell phones to maintain contact and accountability of work activities.
Working Environment:
+ The worker is subject to both environmental conditions. Activities occur inside and outside.
Physical Activities:
+ Climbing: Ascending or descending ladders, stairs, scaffolding, ramps, poles and the like, using feet and legs and/or hands and arms. Body agility is emphasized. This factor is important if the amount and kind of climbing required exceeds that required for ordinary locomotion.
+ Balancing: Maintaining body equilibrium to prevent falling and walking, standing, or crouching on narrow, slippery, or erratically moving surfaces. This factor is important if the amount of balancing exceeds that needed for ordinary locomotion and maintenance of body equilibrium.
Qualifications
Education:
+ High School Diploma / GED and one (1) year of additional education and/or experience .
Certifications:
+ Must be a U.S. Citizen.
+ Must have a valid state Driver's License.
+ Must be eligible for Base Access / Clearance.
+ Must possess current GSA Certified Safe and Vault Technician certification to work on GSA approved containers, vaults, X-09 and X-10 locks, cipher locks, mechanical combination locks, door locks, and safes.
Experience:
+ 3 + years of experience with relevant applications.
+ Welding flex and pipe.
+ Experience working on Department of Defense (DoD) or other government contracts is preferred.
Skills:
+ Willingness to work in varied weather conditions on a remote island.
+ Ability to respond to emergency situations including after-hours calls.
