Carpenter

** Top Secret Clearance Required**

The Carpenter is responsible for performing a variety of carpentry duties as assigned. Carpentry services include, but are not limited to, the design. construction, installation and repair of wooden fixtures and structures such as cabinets, furniture, shelving, doors, plaques, and other custom wood products. Other duties include, but are not limited to, framing and finish work, painting, staining. etc. Monitors subcontractor performance as assigned, conducts jobsite troubleshooting and performs primary project layout and carpentry production.

REQUIRED EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE / SKILLS: 

Applicants selected will be subject to a government security investigation and may meet eligibility requirements, including U.S. Citizenship, for access to classified information; DoD Top Secret / SCI (TS/SCI) clearance is required  High school diploma or GED required Must possess a minimum of eight (8) years experience in carpentry Must possess a minimum of two (2) years of overseas experience working on US Diplomatic Facilities on construction/renovation projects involving ICD 705 (SCIF) construction standards Must possess the ability to obtain a German Work Permit to live and work in Germany Must possess the ability to obtain a German driver's license for passenger vehicles (car/van/small truck/small trailer) Must possess the ability to read and understand architectural drawings Must possess the ability to construct metal framing partition walls, to include drywall finishing and painting to a level 5 finish Must be skilled in the use of computers, preferably in a PC, Windows-based operating environment Must possess the ability to use hand and power tools applicable to trade Must possess the ability to read, understand, follow, and enforce safety procedures Must possess records maintenance skills Must possess the ability to read, understand, follow, and enforce safety procedures

Abilities

Lifts at least 100 pounds at one time and 60 pounds for an extended period of time Relocates a 12 foot stepladder without assistance Works at various heights up to 60 feet and can climb and maintain balance on scaffolds, aerial lifts, catwalks and all types of ladders Walks, climbs, lifts, squats, crawls, kneels, pushes, pulls and reaches overhead on a routine and repetitive basis Possess good vision (may be corrected vision), the ability to see in color, and the ability to hear and communicate in English May use a standard ladder without exceeding the weight limit while carrying tools Tell when something is wrong or is likely to go wrong.  It does not involve solving the problem, only recognizing there is a problem Apply general rules to specific problems to produce answers that make sense Combine pieces of information to form general rules or conclusions (including finding a relationship among seemingly unrelated events) See details at close range (within a few feet of the observer) Listen to and understand information and ideas presented through spoken words and sentences
