Job Overview The incumbent performs general carpentry and assorted duties necessary to maintain, repair, or upgrade all facilities and structures. Assists supervisor in regular and unique situations and problems.  Identifies and reports safety, environmental and other work requirements for resolution. Work Model: Onsite/Office-Based Responsibilities Essential Duties & Job Functions: Performs maintenance and repair work such as foundations, interior walls, exterior walls, all types of siding and floor covering, sub floors, structural members, roofs, catwalks, and all other building components as necessary. Maintains, repairs, and replaces doors, woodwork, paneling, drywall, floor covering, etc. Uses a variety of hand tools, portable power tools, and standard measuring instruments. Makes standard shop computations relating to dimensions of work and consistent to the trade. Installs panic hardware and other locking devices. Builds forms. Selects the necessary materials for the work. Assists other trades and crafts in their day-to-day operations. Works from blueprints, drawings, models, or verbal and written instructions. Performs occasional painting or touching up of structures or equipment. Replaces broken windows. Ensures proper housekeeping practices are observed. Participates in snow removal operations. Occasionally lifts and/or moves up to 50 pounds. Supports the project Safety Plan though personal involvement in all aspects of Safety, including training, safety protective equipment and clothing, and adhering to safety requirements pertaining to particular trades or skills. Performs other related duties as assigned. Job Requirements Mandatory: High School Diploma or Equivalent (GED). Five years’ experience as a journeyman carpenter. Considerable knowledge and experience of the methods, materials, equipment, and tools used in the carpentry trade. Ability to read and work from blueprints. General knowledge of all maintenance and construction trades. Ability to acquire and maintain government identification/common access card.  Ability to deal with a variety of people in a professional, courteous manner in diversified situations.  Valid state Driver’s License with acceptable driving record pertinent to the position.   Ability to successfully pass any background checks and/or drug testing required on the contract.   U.S. Citizenship.   Ability to obtain access to U.S. Government Installations through the Defense Biometric Identification System (DBIDS).    Reasonable Accommodation: CGS will provide reasonable accommodations, according to applicable state and federal laws, to all qualified individuals with physical or mental disabilities.
