Salary: $25/hour

Hybrid Schedule: 9AM-5PM, Monday- Friday (2-3 days remote)

Location: Central Islip, NY

Reports to: Senior Director



What drives the core purpose of this job:

The Case Coordinator (Lemon Law) is responsible for all aspects of program coordination of the Lemon Law Arbitration components in Nassau and Suffolk Counties (position has option for main location to be at either Central Islip or Hempstead) and serve as back up to other LIDRC components including the Surrogate Decision Making Committee (SDMC) program.

What are the key Responsibilities:

1. Perform and coordinate pre-hearing responsibilities, including intake, scheduling of hearings, contacting volunteers, and securing hearing location for the Lemon Law component. 2. Explain the arbitration process to litigants and prospective parties. 3. Prepare and maintain case files for the Lemon Law programs, including records, statistics and databases for clients. 4. Observe hearings, including monitoring of participants and hearing records, to ensure quality arbitration standards. 5. Perform data-entry for the LIDRC’s lemon law component in both counties and ensure proper disposition of case files. 6. Prepare and submit statistical reports and vouchers for the program. 7. Assist with the Lemon Law Arbitration Apprenticeship program and maintain volunteer arbitrator participation logbook. 8. Maintain relationships with all volunteers and relevant individuals/organizations. 9. Respond to telephone inquiries for the Lemon Law program. 10. Assist with maintaining volunteer database, Case Load Manager. 11.Serve as backup and provide coverage at both county offices including performing data-entry for small claims court, custody and visitation mediation programming, and SDMC and as needed as well as occasional travel for training and to facilitate hearings.

What key knowledge, skills, and abilities are required to excel in this role:

1. Associate’s degree required. Bachelor’s degree preferred. 2. Must have knowledge of administrative procedures and conflict resolution. 3. Must have valid NYS Driver’s license and access to vehicle as there is travel for commuting between offices, hearings, and backup. 4. Must be proficient in computer applications or other automated systems such as spreadsheets, Microsoft Office applications, calendar, email and/or database software necessary to perform work assignments. 5. Must have experience in hosting virtual sessions, including knowledge of various virtual meeting platforms and tools. 6. Must have pleasant phone manner and excellent communication, organizational and interpersonal skills.
