**Job Description**
**Case Manager**
The Office of the Dean of Students (DOS) is seeking a **Case Manager** to join the Student Support and Outreach team within DOS. DOS works to support students through challenging and complex issues while keeping the wellbeing of the entire community at the center of our work. Using formative and restorative approaches and in the context of our Jesuit, Catholic mission, we help students reflect, grow, develop skills, and to be responsible for themselves and to the community. DOS is a dynamic and fast-paced office that oversees a number of critical functions for the University. The Case Manager is a critical member of our team who provides direct service and support to students of concern/ in crisis and students with disabilities.
The Case Manager must be able to build strong relationships with students, supporting them through challenges, connecting them to appropriate campus and community resources, and promoting growth in self-advocacy. The Case Manager must also be someone who is approachable and collaborative. This role serves as the first point of contact for faculty, staff, families and students who are concerned about a student and works with partners throughout campus to support students. The Case Manager will need to be able to effectively assess and triage reports, and create intervention and follow up plans to address concerns.
The Case Manager needs to have, or will need to acquire, specialized knowledge in the areas of case management in higher education, crisis management and disability services.
**Responsibilities include**
**Case Management / Students of Concern**
+ Receive, assess and respond to faculty, staff, family and student inquiries/reports of concern about a student;
+ Serve as an intake person and case manager for students in crisis and students experiencing chronic or emerging situations that may compromise the student’s ability to be successful;
+ Implement non-clinical interventions to provide care, support, and resources for students who are experiencing challenges and/or who are required to participate in case management services;
+ Maintain a system of follow-up for students who have been referred to campus or community resources, including providing services to encourage compliance with recommendations and support plans;
+ Work closely with the Health and Wellness area to collaboratively support individual students and collaborate on proactive health and wellness programming and education for the community;
+ Collaborate with additional on-campus stakeholders, including but not limited to, Academic undergraduate and graduate Associate Deans, Academic Advisors, Residential Life, Campus Ministry, Student Financial Services, Montserrat
+ Coalition, the BAIC, OSI, Pine Manor Institute, Messina College, to connect students with resources and ensure appropriate and coordinated support for students;
+ Collaborate with off-campus treatment providers to contribute to treatment planning, monitor treatment compliance, secure any necessary documentation and assist student in accessing appropriate on-campus resources as needed;
+ Keep individual records for all students including communications with student, family members, clinicians and any other stakeholders, and all actions taken; and
+ Consult with the Assistant and/or Associate Dean of Student Outreach & Support regarding relevant legal/compliance requirements pertaining to student support and disability accommodations.
**Disabilities Services**
+ Serve as an intake person for and case manager for students with disabilities;
+ Meet with continuing students to review accommodations and make recommendations to Disability Services;
+ Meet with prospective students to review Boston College policies and accommodations for physical, medical, psychological and temporary disabilities; and
+ Keep individual records for all students including all family communications and all actions taken.
**Other Responsibilities**
+ Regular attendance and participation at Dean of Students office meetings, programs and events;
+ Work closely with the health and wellness area to collaboratively support individual students and collaborate on proactive health and wellness programming and education for the community;
+ Committee work as assigned by supervisor;
+ Contribute to departmental mission, vision, assessment, strategic plan and policy creation; and
+ Other duties as assigned.

Full-Time Equivalent Hiring Range: $63,800 to $79,750; salary commensurate with relevant experience.
**Requirements**
+ Master’s Degree in counseling, social work, higher education, or related field
+ Two to four years of experience in crisis management and/or experience working with students in crisis
+ Two to four years of experience in higher education, preferably with students of concern, conduct
+ Skills in counseling and consultation, including but not limited to:
+ Listening and attention skills to verbal and non-verbal communication
+ Ability to ask appropriate and open-ended questions that provide information for assessment
+ Ability to create rapport and build an empathic and therapeutic relationship
+ Ability to minimally assess when someone needs to be further assessed regarding risk of self-harm or harm towards others
+ Crisis management skills
+ Understanding of student development issues
+ Knowledge of legal and policy issues impacting the work of student affairs
+ Good communication skills
+ Confident, articulate, and professional speaking abilities and experience
+ Empathic listener and persuasive speaker.
+ Direct and factual writing capabilities
+ Must be able to work evening and/or weekend when necessary
