Position: Caseworker 

Department: Social Services

Availability of Position: Immediate

Schedule: Monday through Friday; 8:30am-4:30pm

Reporting Relationship: Social Services Director

Salary/Grade: 73; Non-Exempt

Position Overview:

              

Working with York residents who are having financial difficulties and are looking for assistance for housing, utilities, food, etc. Partnering with other agencies to help the resident in their time of need. Working as part of a team with others in the Department. Spanish speaking is important to the position.

Responsibilities

Description of Position:

           

The list of job duties below is not exclusive or exhaustive and the candidate will be required to undertake such tasks as may reasonably be expected within the scope of the post.

 

Cover the following duties during absence of receptionist: registering clients and forwarding information to appropriate caseworker, process clothing requests, appointment scheduling, lock & unlock lobby doors at appointed times, post & review signs and materials in lobby as needed, provide receipts to donors for items brought in at 30 East King St. Provides direct services including: interviewing, identifying needs, verifying information, assessing needs and ability to assist, counseling as appropriate for personal & financial needs, referral to appropriate community resources and corps programs, performing accurate data entry and written documentation. Assists as assigned with storage, packing and rotating of all perishable and non-perishable goods, checking shelf life of items, and storing items in a safe manner. Assists with storage and use of supplies, files, clothing and other items. Maintains professional liaison with other agency and community representatives. Follows agency policies and procedures, maintains updated book/file of personnel materials. Keeps supervisor informed of daily events or activities. Responsible to schedule food appointments and work with all aspects of Food Pantry. Responsible for overseeing all aspects of the Sheetz Christmas Program; i.e. recruiting children, working with the families in completing paperwork, delivering applications to Sheetz store and attending party event. Qualifications

Requirements:  

High School Diploma or equivalent.Bilingual preferredAt least 2 years of service in the Social Service field.Good communication skills.Good math and reading skills.Child Protection Clearances PA Act 153 requires that all prospective employees complete the following clearance and background checks prior to employment: PA Child Abuse History Clearance, PA State Police Criminal Record Check and FBI Criminal Record/Fingerprint Check. Meets the Child Protection Clearances required by PA Act 153 to include PA Child Abuse History Clearance, PA State Police Criminal Record Check and FBI Criminal Record Check along with renewals every five years.Must have an understanding of and support for the Mission of The Salvation Army.
