Work Location: Position is located at Community Hospital, Munster, Indiana. 

 

Job Description:

Requests and collects payment of charges for services from the patient/guarantor at the time of service or discharge.  Processes patient inquires at the Cashier window in regards to discharges, insurance and payments.

 

  Required Skills & Qualifications:  

High School diploma or GED. Minimum 1 year medical office or customer service experience required. Knowledge of insurance benefits; experience with insurance benefit verification and/or pre-certification preferred. Prior experience with cash collections, balancing of cash drawers and preparation of bank deposits preferred. Ability to discuss financial matters with patients. Must be able to pass calculator and mathematical test. Basic level of proficiency with MS Outlook, Word and Excel.  Must be proficient with a 10 key calculation, detail oriented with a good numeric aptitude and typing skills of 35 wpm with accuracy required. Excellent problem-solving, organizational and analytical skills.  Strong written/verbal communication skills. Ability to work independently and multi-task while working in a collaborative, team environment with a positive attitude.  Must be able to work in a fast-paced environment and work under deadlines.
