KEY OBJECTIVE:
To produce a high quality work product on casualty claims, primarily CGL, Auto and Personal Liability, through prompt contact, thorough investigation, and effective reserving and negotiation.
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:
Handle commercial and personal liability claims of low to moderate severity; Conduct and direct proactive investigations on all aspects of the claim. Secure and review all supporting documentation including expert reports and legal opinions. Assess loss documentation and its impact on the quantum of the claim; Verify and analyze coverage under various commercial, personal and some specialty liability policy forms; Establish and maintain accurate and timely reserves that reflect the investigation and assessment and which follow corporate guidelines; Manage the use, work product, and expenses of outside vendors, including independent adjusters, and other experts; Maintain an active diary on all files and adhere to file reporting requirements; Effectively and proactively communicate with various customer groups including: claims core, underwriting departments, brokers and insureds; Provide superior customer service, and build and maintain excellent business relationships with our brokers; Manage projects identified by management to assist in the department meeting Best Practices and Reserving Guidelines; Perform administrative support tasks at management direction and/or as department requires.Completion of University degree/ College diploma, and/or equivalent insurance-related education and experience; Minimum of two to three (2-3) years of previous claim experience; Strong written and verbal communication skills; Superior negotiation skills and customer services skills; Good knowledge of the insurance business, knowledge of insurance contracts, and legal requirements and regulations; Excellent organizational and time management skills with the ability to follow up independently; Ability to respond as a team player in a multi-task environment; Must possess an aptitude for technical, detail-oriented work; Ability to work efficiently under pressure.
