ResponsibilitiesThe Casualty Team Lead is a pivotal leadership role responsible for overseeing a team of Underwriters, underwriting risks in a book of business including miscellaneous professional, lawyers, title agents and real estate agents E&S business to achieve company premium and profit goals. This role requires a strong understanding of leadership, collaboration, systems and teamwork. This position will work closely with senior management, underwriting teams, and external partners to ensure our operations align with the company's strategic goals.
Skill and knowledge of broker/agency management and relationship buildingTrack record of uncovering, researching and putting together new opportunities by applying appropriate underwriting strategies and standards to qualify risk acceptability.Ability to work effectively and within an assigned level of underwriting authority.Experience planning, orchestrating, and leading highly effective broker meetings.Negotiates standard coverage issues, closes sale, and gauges customer satisfactionAbility to meet or exceed designated LOB production metricsStrong technical knowledge regarding underwriting, coverage and pricing within a particular product lineAssisting with the training and development of underwriting staffParticipates in casualty management including product enhancements as well as corrective actions.Handles more complex risksServes as a company representative to external organizations, as appropriateProven ability to build and maintain strong productive relationships with individual brokersProvide timely, courteous and efficient service to all internal and external clientsAbility to identify and call appropriate attention to broker performance issuesServes on task forces and committees and actively participates in projects Understanding of pricing and risk selection criteriaPerform other duties as assignedLeads and mentors a team of underwriters.Monitors key performance metrics to achieve individual and unit goals.
