Casualty Underwriter

Position Title: Casualty Underwriter
Office: The PARQ
Department: P&C

Key Objective
• Working within eatablished guidelines, ensure that Casualty products are underwritten to meet line of business targeted ratios for losses, commissions and premium
Major Duties and Responsibilities
• Within established guidelines, underwrite Casualty accounts and direct products. Using all available historical and current data and technological analysis tools, make decisions regarding risk acceptance applying necessary conditions and rates, for all appropriately submitted risks. Solicit additional data (incluing the appropriate Loss Control surveys ) as required and reduce liabilities through reinsurance. Ensure all files are document per company
• Prepare submissions for Casualty underwriting review beyond delegated under writing authority
• Manage portfolio mix to meet profit and growth to meet long and short team profit objectives.
• Work with sales staff to identify and produce new product and/or packages to meet current or potential market needs and to generate Casualty underwriting profit. Ensure approvals from appropiateregional and regulatory authorities are obtained timely.
• Within approved guidelines, establish, implement and communicate country underwriting policies and procedures, response timetables and quality standards. Work directly with Customer Service Units to ensure timely and accurate issuance of policy documentation.
• Provide support to sales staff by personally sourcing highly technical underwriting information, negotiating with or educating clients/producers and targeted segments of the business community
• Liaise with claims people to ensure information is available for appropriate and timely adjustments.
• Provide advice, counsel and direction to less experienced staff, as required
• Participate in the country budgeting, forecasting processes.

Reporting Relationships
Reports to: Casualty Manager

Experience
• Years of experience: 3-5 years working experience in insurance business (Casualty)
• Underwriting / marketing proficiency in commercial product lines gained through five or more years of applicable experience in at least two of the following areas: underwriting / marketing, sales/ marketing, product management, and claims and /or risk assessment.
 

Qualifications
• Education: Master's or Bachlor's degree in business or related field
• Knowledge, skills and abilities: Thailand Power Generation business, Excel, Power Point, MS-words and/or other relevant software applications
• Capability to work independently and utilize appropriate automated tools with minimal administrative support.
• Superior communications and interpersonal skills to be capable of dealing with producers, customers and all levels of the organization in Thai and English
