Accommodation is available upon request for candidates taking part in the selection process. **'How does this role contribute to our collective success?** The Exposure Management Center of Excellence in the Chief Underwriting Officer function is tasked with developing company-wide guidance on risk assessment for all lines of business including natural catastrophe, cyber, casualty, mortgage and specialty risks. In this role you will improve AXIS’ understanding and modelling of these risks, using latest science and our internal underwriting and pricing expertise. You will lead and contribute to the view of risk reviews, respond to questions from our business partners and assess new model releases. What will you do in this role? • You will be leading and contributing to view of risk reviews and research. • You will be working with internal subject matter experts to develop AXIS’ view of risk for different lines of business, e.g. natural catastrophe, cyber, mortgage or specialty risks. • You will be responsible for providing scientific insights into relevant hazard and risk. • You will be responsible for building an up-to-date understanding of relevant research. • You will document and communicate results to internal stakeholders. You may also be required to take on additional duties, responsibilities and activities appropriate to the nature of this role. **About You:** We encourage you to bring your own experience and expertise to the table, so while there are some qualifications and experiences, we need you to have, we are open to discussing how your individual knowledge might lend itself to fulfilling this role and help us achieve our goals. **What you need to have:** • Advanced degree in a quantitative subject. • Project or work experience related to natural catastrophe, cyber, casualty or mortgage. • Ability to transfer your expert scientific knowledge to the business and explain your expert knowledge to the non-practitioner. • Work experience in either R or Python, ideally from statistical analysis of large data sets and technical skills in programming in a higher programming language (e.g. C, C++, C#, Java, Fortran) • Ability to work and develop ideas independently, and to deliver results on-time **What we prefer you to have:** • Knowledge of extreme value statistics • Insurance industry experience • Ability to work in a multi-national and global collaborative environment • Self-reliance and committed with strong interpersonal communication and networking skills **Role Factors:** Be in the office 3 days per week **What we offer:** You will be eligible for a comprehensive and competitive benefits package which includes medical plans for you and your family, health and wellness programs, retirement plans, tuition reimbursement, paid annual leave, and much more.
