Overview Lead category consultant partnering to assist Walmart in developing category vision and go-to-market strategy. Point for all category, consumer and market insights to deliver unbiased recommendations on assortment, shelf layout, space management and merchandising to drive the category at Walmart. Responsibilities Key support for Walmart Buyer in the development of category objectives, strategies and tactics. Foster collaborative relationships with Walmart Buyer and Walmart cross functional partners through interfacing with customer on a regular basis, engaging communication, agility & adaptability, and timeliness. Lead modular drawing process that reflect the merchant’s strategies (including shelf layout design, assortment recommendations, set size versioning) in addition to monitoring modular compliance requirements and ease of stores to execute. Proactively identify emerging shopper & marketplace trends while leveraging all available information resources to make fact-based recommendations to Walmart. Develop and maintain both custom and standardized reports to support regular customer meetings, category reviews and Walmart ad hoc requests for data & information Assist in the development of analytical reporting tools and resources to measure and track category performance across all formats. Qualifications Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Marketing or related field is required. Minimum 5 years’ professional experience in consumer-packaged goods within the disciplines of category management, sales, and/or market research. Proven functional leadership in category management, preferably as Category Advisor at Walmart. Advanced fluency with Retail Link, IRI/Nielsen, Panel, JDA ProSpace, Excel and PowerPoint. Highly developed problem-solving skills and fact-based solution generation. Self-starter with a strong bias for action, a desire for excellence and drive for outstanding results. Strategic and insightful thinker with compelling story-telling abilities. Navigates challenge & change with a high level of resilience, adaptability, and confidence. Self-aware and open to constructive feedback; seeking to grow and develop in a professional manner to expand leadership potential. Must demonstrate an ability to operate at both a detailed, process level and a broad, strategic level.
