Category Analyst

JOB PURPOSE (JOB SUMMARY):
The category analyst will be responsible for database maintenance of our syndicated and panel data systems and developing category reporting across the organization. They will be the subject matter expert across all category data systems and work closely with sales analysts to incorporate retailer specific data into reporting. An integral part of the role will include designing reports to easily draw insights to drive the business forward. The candidate will support sales for customer calls, by providing insights and stories to drive category and brand growth.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES / DUTIES:
+ Develop full suite of category reporting for the organization
+ Responsible for monthly updates of category reports
+ Collaborate with Sales analysts to ensure customer data is integrated into all reporting
· Work with the Category team to help identify emerging Consumer and Shopper trends and proactively providing impact to our business
· Work with the Sales team on respective Customers to provide Best In Class Category strategies to our Customers that drive Category and Brand growth
· Ability to work independently and proactively with relentless adherence to deadlines
· Willingness to learn retailers business across all channels and anticipate their needs to provide solutions
WORK EXPERIENCE / KNOWLEDGE:
· Required: 2+ years of analytical experience in the classroom, internship, or work history at a CPG (consumer packaged goods manufacturer)
· Required: Advanced Excel skills
· Nice to Have: Knowledge of PowerBI
· Nice to Have: Experience with large amounts of market data

+ Strong proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint. Expert level Excel Vlookup, Index Match
+ Strong organized data analysis skills with ability to interpret and communicate market and category trends
+ Strong PowerPoint editing skills
+ Ability to access and utilize internal databases and in-house sales software
+ Proven success managing multiple objectives and priorities in a fast paced environment
+ Ability to apply sound business principles and practices to projects
+ Strong communication, priority setting, and time management skills
+ Attention to detail a must
+ Data Integrity a must
+ Proactively identify gaps in reporting in the organization and provide recommendations
+ Ability to manage a project from conception to completion
FORMAL EDUCATION:
· Bachelor’s Degree required; preferably in Business, Data Science, or other relevant discipline
WORKING CONDITIONS
· This is a fully remote position.
· Normally works a regular schedule of hours, however hours may vary depending on the project or assignment.
· Must be able to travel up to 15% of the time.
