Position Summary:
This position is responsible for developing and executing insight-based Category Management strategies for the Sun Care, Feminine Care and Skin Care businesses and working closely with the field category development team to translate these into actionable solutions to increase sales for the category and EPC brands. This role will report into the Sr. Category Development Mgr, for Sun, Fem & Skin Care.
Accountabilities
• Be the category expert, educating EPC’s internal and external teams, customers, and stakeholders on category, consumer, and shopper insights. Serve as the voice of the category and retailers, staying ahead of trends to anticipate shifts and identify growth opportunities.
• Employ category management tools and business processes to develop customized solutions for shop-ability, distribution space and assortment.
• Support category management growth by leveraging Category Development tools, including JDA for shelf management, Circana for POS and panel insights, and Rich Mix for assortment optimization, with a focus on compelling category- and shopper-based selling
• Analyze and synthesize information across data sources such as customer internal scan and loyalty data, Circana, Shopper Sights, HH panel, industry studies and custom consumer/shopper research to ensure holistic and unique solutions are recommended to and implemented by our customers
• Own the development of high-level category fundamentals such as the Category 101, National Category Merchandising strategy, and National Selling Presentations for responsibility categories
• Work with Sr. CD Mgr & Consumer Insights teams to identify relevant macro category, and shopper trends and collaborate with the field category development team to activate against these trends across channels and retailers
• Support & influence the development of the EPC Shopper Learning plan for your categories, incorporating both internal and external priorities into the process
• Partner with Global Consumer insights to execute shopper research and synthesize findings so they’re actionable at the customer level
• Support product innovation team by identifying growth opportunities to influence new product development through deep category insights and market trends to ensure new products align with category strategies and retailer needs.
• Provide guidance on SKU optimization and portfolio management based on category performance and innovation impact.
• Utilize category expertise and unique research and insights to penetrate additional influencers at the customer, outside of the buyer, to increase credibility and develop a more strategic partnership with retailers
• Ensure effective partnership and communication between Field CD, Sales, Consumer Insights and Marketing in the whole planning and execution process, especially for key growth initiatives.
Required Education, Skills and Experience
• Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university
• 5+ years of CPG experience in Category Management with knowledge of category & shopper research projects, synthesizing findings.

• Strong project management skills, ability to influence without direct authority
• Ability to work in a highly collaborative and cross functional environment and work effectively with other team members
• Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
• Experience working with various cross functional members including Sales and Marketing
• Familiarity with space planning tools (JDA, Spaceman) and shopper insights platforms (POS and Panel).
Work Environment
• Some travel is required.
• Flexible to sometimes work outside of traditional business hours
• Estimate 15% of Domestic travel (Quarterly visits to Shelton CT office if not based in Shelton area)
The salary range for this position is $96,000 - 124,000. Actual base salary offered to a candidate may vary based upon factors including, but not limited to, relevant experience, time in role, base salary of internal peers, prior performance, business sector, and geographic location. In addition to base salary, the competitive compensation package may include, depending on the role, participation in an incentive program linked to performance.
