Ford’s Exterior & Structural Systems team is looking for a highly motivated individual to take on the challenges of delivering cost, quality, and delivery targets for the Structural Battery Tray commodity. Structural Battery Trays support Ford’s electric and hybrid vehicles, so you’ll be at the forefront of delivering value for the future of Ford. In this dynamic role, you will be developing key relationships cross functionally within Ford, as well as with our supplier partners. Monitoring and adjusting our strategic direction for the commodity and ultimately sourcing for our future model vehicles. 

In this position... 

Develop sourcing plans enabling completion of commercial negotiations and strategic sourcing to support supplier onboard dates while delivering program targets.  Lead target sign-off process with match-pairs, prepare RFQ’s, evaluate supplier quotations and complete Commercial Agreements  Lead QCDR process including plans to deliver full year objectives for commodity suppliers Develop and maintain strong supplier partnerships Lead supplier commercial negotiations, drive cost reduction strategies Assist in managing the category strategy (CBP) across regions with annual updates including identifying and developing suppliers to deliver quality, delivery and cost objectives Complete critical upcoming sourcing decisions and work with new suppliers on industrialization plans

You'll have... 

Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain, Procurement, Business Administration or Finance, OR Bachelor's degree in Engineering. Years of experience: 3+ years of procurement and supply chain experience. Availability to work hybrid (3 days in Dearborn & 2 days optional remote).

Master of Business Administration. Years of experience: 3+ years of direct automotive procurement and supply chain experience. Experience with strategic sourcing and cost negotiations. Great communication and collaboration skills. Desire to strengthen negotiation skills and fact-based problem solving.

What you'll do…

Strategic Sourcing & Negotiation:

Develop commodity strategies to execute commodity sourcing activities enabling sourcing on-time and at target.  Develop roadmap actions to enable delivery of target  Manage the commodity strategy with global team members to maintain/update annually including identifying industry trends and technologies Manage supplier relationships by conducting QCDR reviews, lead supplier negotiations, provide post sourcing supplier feedback and promptly address supplier claims using a data driven approach Present sourcing strategy (Step 1 & 2) to Executive leadership, outlining the “why” behind the sourcing recommendation and strategy Support future model program workshops 

Commodity Management

Develop and successfully execute negotiations strategies to deliver material cost targets with a deep understanding of the commodity cost drivers Support Quality initiatives by sourcing to Q1 supplier sites and holding suppliers accountable to deliver Q1 with clear action plans where targeted/aligned Lead QCDR reviews with commodity suppliers to promptly address commodity issues with action plans  Understand the latest supply base footprint, financial health ratings, technologies and trends Work cross functionally to align on strategies for introducing new suppliers  Develop material cost roadmaps that deliver cost objectives, identify commercial leverage data points and lead supplier negotiations 

Other Responsibilities

Conduct agenda driven working-level meetings with Suppliers to drive prompt resolution and relationship development Attend internal and external meetings with stakeholders  Be a leader and change agent, challenge our supplier partners to identify opportunities Ford is not competitive compared to other OEMs Complete all required training  Provide support to SOT, STA and MP&L when supplier quality and delivery issues emerge Close all commercial issues in a timely, effective, and competitive manner
