Job Title: Category Lead - Indirects
Division: Weir Minerals
Location: Artarmon, Australia

Purpose of Role:

As the Category Lead, with focus on the indirect spend categories, you will be supporting the development and execution of category strategies, manage ERP systems, support contract management, supplier relationships, identify and prevent supply chain risks, provide data driven inputs to process improvements and controls to generate value for Weir.  In the role, you will be responsible for delivering initiatives and metrics related to indirect spend, in line with Weir’s Annual Operational Plan and in line with the Procurement Policy and Guidelines.

You are required to have a general understanding of how engineering principles and supply chain processes can be applied to procurement sourcing, a good grasp of the business's processes, needs, and desired outcomes, and the ability to work collaboratively with stakeholders and third-party providers. Sound contractual acumen and negotiation skills are essential for success in this position.

Ensure compliance with Procurement Policy and Guidelines and assist internal stakeholders in adhering to these standards.Meet procurement governance requirements for each category and assist in resolving any outstanding issuesAssist in developing and implementing sourcing strategies for indirect spend categoriesIdentify and engage with new and key suppliers to ensure competitive pricing and high-quality deliverables.Generate and manage reports on workflows and costs to provide insights and support decision making.Support the implementation of cost-saving initiatives and ensure compliance with budgetary constraints.Support vendor onboarding processes, ensuring all necessary documentation isDraft, review, and implement contracts related to indirect spend categories.

Education and/or Experience:

Working experience in Procurement, Mechanical related Engineering, Supplier Management and/or business-related disciplines.Engineering Degree or similar is preferred, Tertiary qualifications in procurement, logistics and supply chain, or business management.Good understanding of the legal and contractual framework for supply chain operations.Working knowledge of negotiation tactics, strategies and contractual processes.Working knowledge of environments with business structures that includes manufacturing facilities, understanding unique procurement needs and challenges associated with such settings.Advanced Microsoft Office (Excel, Powerpoint, Word), PowerBI, SAP, Coupa.
