About the role
The Category Manager, Technology Transformation will be responsible for developing and executing category plans to deliver sustainable and innovative outcomes that provide competitive advantage whilst reducing cost and risk. This will be in conjunction with the contract renewal cycle, business strategic demand, competitive market analysis, global supply dynamics, relevant commodity cost drivers, Coles’ buying power and more.
Given the technology focus, success in this role will require proven experience in technology procurement, particularly in the cloud, data, or AI remit, but more importantly, strong procurement experience.
You will also:
Represent Coles as a commercial partner for engagements across Supermarkets, Liquor, and Coles Local Act as Commercial lead for negotiations with supplier counterparts to realise agreed benefits/mitigations, including key commercial items and contract formalisation, fostering collaborative relationships to build strong partnerships and deliver on category strategy Play a key role in maximising value whilst also managing third party risk, working with contract managers to maintain Coles’ Third-Party Risk Management processes and meeting Coles’ commitment to engage with suppliers ethically, responsibly and fairly Work with support teams involved in contract negotiations end to end including but not limited to various risk domain owners, legal, business, technology etc Develop and execute key sourcing initiatives/projects to conclusion whilst maintaining ongoing alignment with key business customers and other relevant stakeholders
About you and your skills
Success in this role will be achieving or exceeding annual efficiency targets set against category plans, achieved through commercial dealings with suppliers and internal customers. This will require you to have advanced commercial skills including negotiation, ‘should cost’ modelling, financial analysis and risk & contract management.
You will also have:
Related tertiary qualification, ideally with Commerce, Legal, or Procurement background Strong experience in procurement or in the commercial management industry Strong understanding of the technology software and hardware industry required to navigate commercial, legal and data and privacy requirements negotiations Well-developed commercial experience, possibly gained in other large commercial/FMCG/Retail enterprise Experience with developing, executing, and maintaining category strategy and vision, particularly in the Technology spaceWhat’s in it for you?
