What you will be doing 

The Category Manager position supports Albertsons Companies National Merchandising Department. This position will be responsible for supporting the National Reset Process from the beginning of the process though planogram publishing. The Category Manager will work closely with the National Category Director as well as other cross functional teams (Symphony Retail, Circana, OWN Brands, Supply Chain, and Schematics) to develop actionable recommendations to improve category performance relating to sales, share, operational metrics, and productivity.   

The position will oversee Category Analyst(s) assigned to the team that support the execution of the deliverables detailed in the winning model review process.  This position is responsible for driving the process to ensure business objectives are being achieved and key deliverables are being met in a timely manner.    

The position will be based in Boise, Idaho, or one of our main regional offices in Pleasanton CA. 

 

Main Responsibilities 

Essential Functions 

Working with National Merchandising Category Teams to complete resets following the Winning Model Category Review process   Hitting all the timeline milestones   Improving overall shelf health metrics including pack-out, productivity, sales and share performance.   Leading the Winning Model review process.   Leading Kickoff meetings, agreeing on the category assessment framework.   Leading the development of Category Assessment presentations.  Working with all relevant functional areas to identify opportunities and recommend a course of action.    Leading the establishment of pack out and productivity goals for the reset.     Leading the Assortment process utilizing Albertsons assortment tool I2E.   Collaborates with National Category Directors to establish the assortment for the Blueprint Planograms by division.     Provides analytical data to National Merchandising Team.   Serves as the Subject Matter Expert in the I2E Assortment Tool.   Trains and develops Category Analyst.

 The salary range is $92,000.00 to $120,000.00 annually. Starting salary will vary based on criteria such as location, experience, and qualifications. There may be flexibility for exceptional candidates  

 

What we are searching for  

Qualifications 

BA/BS degree preferred or equivalent experience.   Non-perishable/perishable product knowledge and merchandising background preferred.   Strong PC skills (preferred Microsoft Office knowledge) Working knowledge of internal Albertsons systems a plus.   Strong analytical skills with the ability to solve business problems.   Ability to multi-task and prioritize workload.   Team oriented with excellent time management and organization skills.   Ability to interface and build relationships with key decisions makers.   Excellent communication skills (both verbal & written).   Customer service oriented with ability to maintain positive attitude in all situations.   Must possess and demonstrate a strong sense of urgency, energy, and be very detail oriented.   Sterling integrity and ability to maintain confidentiality.   Ability to view the changing dynamics of the grocery industry and seek out opportunities for synergy and integration within different areas of the business.   Able to effectively cope with change.
