The Category Manager is an expert in the planning, development, merchandising, pricing, and sales execution of a certain group or type of products.  The Category Manager’s in-depth knowledge of the assigned category will drive the pricing, shelving, marketing, and promotions of the category's products in order to make them as visible, accessible, and appealing to customers as possible.

NOTE: this is an in office, Mon - Fri, opportunity - No hybrid/remote options are available.

The essential job functions include, but are not limited to:

Responsible for the ongoing strategy and development of the product categoryCreating and developing a long term plan and strategy for development of the categoryManage, analyze, and monitor market changes in product mix and retail prices to remain competitiveDetermine market needs, gaps, and create a strategy to capture new growthWork effectively with stores, vendors and internal departments, such as pricing for product authorization, cost and retail maintenanceCreate and maintain all Plan-o-Grams and changes to stores, vendors, by updating the effective dates of changes, additions and deletionsDevelop key supplier relationships for category management initiativesAccountable for managing retail pricing, ordering and in-store organization of productsBecome a leader in category ranging, pricing and promotions across customer channelsRecommend market relevant pricing in order to drive category sales and profitsContribute to the category’s profitability by increasing the volume of products that are sold within the category, and improving the speed of inventory turnover within the categoryWorking knowledge of the products, consumer needs, buying practices, sales goals and retail environment related to your merchandise categoryStrong judgment skills in analyzing and responding to challenging issues raised by customers, co-workers, and employeesPerform other duties as required and/or assignedEmployee must be able to perform essential functions of the job with or without reasonable accommodation   

The position requirements include, but are not limited to:

Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combinations of experience and education in lieu of degree5+ years of experienceProficient skill level with in MS office and ExcelExperience with Data Visualization products such as Tableau, MicroStrategy, and SpotfireExperience in interpreting significant amounts of data, reports and analysis in order to turn it into action steps to achieve goalsMust possess excellent interpersonal skills to apply in communications with business partners, the stores and internal departmentsDemonstrate excellent judgement and able to maintain confidentialityPlan and manage multiple projects and meet deadlinesMust have attention to detail and proven follow up skills
