Category Manager ES&S (Indirect Purchasing)

At Nexans Industrial Solutions & Project, we are specialized in designing and manufacturing cables and complex solutions for our industrial customers.

We are seeking a Category Manager ES&S (Indirect Purchasing) to enhance our team. You will play a central role in defining the purchasing strategy of the Indirect Purchasing categories such as Transport, IT, Intellectual Services, etc according to the vision of the management, and ensuring the alignment of the practices of the countries and the BUs on which you will be working.

 

GETTING A FLYING START

As our Industrial Solutions & Project Business Group prepares to become an independent company from the Group Nexans following their strategy “Electrify the Future”, we are creating more than 50 new positions to build our autonomous teams.

In this context we expect our Category Manager ES&S (Indirect Purchasing) to manage globally our purchasing activities for projects, ensuring competitive, risk-minimized purchases aligned with Nexans' strategy and Total Cost of Ownership principles. He/She will optimize value creation within the commodities category through coordination between industrial partners and the purchasing community, develop key suppliers using margin levers to ensure business continuity.
 

 

HOW YOU MAKE AN IMPACT
STRATEGY & MANAGEMENT


▪ Define the 3 to 5 year strategic purchasing plan of its category using state of the art methodology (local / company, long-term / opportunistic, partners / privileged, market share, brand or purchase, etc.) and implements the plan of execution
▪ Contribute to the definition of Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) in accordance with the strategic plan and monitors the performance of its category
▪ Implement short-term, medium-term and long-term improvement action plans
▪ Define purchasing standards and indicators adapted to its category (standard contractual models, performance grid, etc.)
▪ Conduct a purchasing risk analysis and defines mitigation plans


TRANSACTIONAL PURCHASING 

 

▪ Define needs in terms of challenges (recasting, functional analysis, standardization, etc.)
▪ Consolidate needs at the appropriate level (Global, Local)
▪ Support the definition of functional specifications (decision matrix for information request / quote, etc.)
▪ Lead negotiations to select the best supplier (based on cost breakdown, total cost of ownership - TCO and risk elements)
▪ Manage contracts and monitoring (customization, deployment, performance evaluation)

MARKET INTELLIGENCE 

 

▪ Analyze market trends (products, suppliers and customers) and cost drivers globally
▪ Establish market benchmarks (customers, competitors, suppliers)
▪ Construct the service cost structure
▪ Contribute to the definition of the sourcing strategy

• Coordinate and lead supplier sourcing globally (including in major competitive countries - LCC)

SUPPLIER MANAGEMENT 

 

▪ Define supplier categorization (ABC classification) and manage supplier relationships
▪ Coordinate vendor performance monitoring in accordance with Service Level Agreements (SLAs)
▪ Participate in productivity audits and monitoring

 

 

YOUR STARTING POINTS WHEN YOU JOIN

Are you the one we are looking for :

▪ 5+ years experience in Indirect Purchasing

▪ Fluency in French and English required (both verbally and written)

▪ Ability to work in German/Italian is a plus (both verbally and written)

▪ Excellent verbal, written and presentation skills
▪ Excellent interpersonal, team oriented, negotiation, analytical and problem solving skills
▪ Ability to work independently, to prioritize work, to manage time efficiently, to delegate to direct reports when appropriate support function cost
▪ MS office skills, including Excel spreadsheet modeling and PowerPoint charts
