Our core business includes rail vehicles, rail automation and electrification solutions, turnkey systems, and related services. We have always been very innovative in making traveling faster, safer, and more comfortable. Today, we need new solutions to new challenges such as climate change and rising populations worldwide. That's what drives us. That's why we shape mobility with passion, always being one step ahead. Through digitalization, we make infrastructures smart and create opportunities that get us from A to B sustainably and seamlessly. Our 39,600 employees are pioneers in mobility who help to keep the world moving.
Your new role – challenging and future-oriented.
Your new task will lead you into strategic purchasing of passenger interior components, primarily for high-speed and regional trains (e.g. holding bars & glass partitions, interior ceilings & air conditioning ducts). You will support the creation and implementation of a globally coordinated material strategy considering e.g. purchasing volume, supplier performance, need for action in the material field, localization requirements as well as identified opportunities & risks. You will also conduct requests for quotations as well as bid evaluations, prepare and finalize award decisions. Additionally, you are involved in commercial change management and identify and realize price reductions (e.g. via benchmarks & CVE/GVS activities, bundling). You will develop case specific negotiation strategies and agree them within the team. Subsequently, you will conduct negotiations (e.g. on price & delivery conditions per project, framework agreements, escalations, reclamation claims) independently (e.g. via execution of e- biddings / e-auctions). You will also actively manage risks and suppliers together with cross-functional contacts. You will ensure the required data transparency in the defined systems (e.g. ERP/SAP) according to specifications. The further development possibility to become the strategic lead for one or more material fields in passenger equipment is open to you.
Your qualifications – solid and appropriate
You have completed a commercial or technical degree (Bachelor). You have several years of professional experience in strategic/technical purchasing-, sales- or project management- functions in plant/mechanical engineering, ideally in rail vehicle technology or in the automotive industry and can demonstrate corresponding negotiation skills with international suppliers. Initial experience with procurement under sustainability aspects would be desirable. You have an affinity for technology and can read drawings and parts lists. You are basically familiar with production processes in the metal and plastics processing industry and can therefore communicate at eye level with quality engineers (f/m/d) and design managers (f/m/d). You are confident in using common MS Office applications, web-based applications, ERP systems/SAP and have an affinity for digitalization. You have experience in dealing with different international business cultures, including Asia, and are accordingly willing to travel on business (approx. 20%). You understand your role as a "value creator" for the entire supply chain from tier-n suppliers to our sales department. It should be as natural for you as it is for us that you can do a part of your job via mobile working ("home office"). You have a good command of the German and/or English language and are willing to learn the German language.
