Position Summary:
This position is responsible for soliciting local Food and Beverage events and detailing the advancement of the Food & Beverage needs of any convention, conference, meeting, concert, banquet/social, tradeshow and consumer show client.
Position Responsibilities include the following but not limited to:
Assume lead role in soliciting local bookings; large social events, local one day Food & Beverage events.Develop and maintain a local customer base including outside sales effortsTrain all other catering managers.Produce contracts and Banquet Event Orders for each event.Develop proposals for potential clients and follow through on pending bookings.Entertain prospective clients of Destination El Paso.Report on a daily basis to the Director of Sales and Marketing information on potential sales leads and existing client relations.Maintains an active role in local hospitality community and professional associations.Attend in-house event-related meetings and relays immediate changes with other departments.Collect payment, finalize, and settle all catering events.Organize client tastings.Ability to work with Food and Beverage team to customize menus for clients.Other duties as assigned including a flexible schedule with ability to work nights, weekend, and holidays.Work Contacts:
Daily contact with the Director of Sales, Director of Food & Beverage, Executive Chef and other Destination El Paso employees, clients, vendors, and office personnel
Supervisory Responsibilities:
Occasional supervises Banquets. Manager On Duty as needed.
Working conditions:
Incumbent works in an office setting with minimal adverse exposure to environmental hazards. Occasional setup, maintenance, and tear-down of Food and Beverage functions and/or events.
Minimum Requirements:
Knowledge of sales and marketing principles necessary to promote Destination El Paso.At least (8) years of practical sales experience in hotel or convention center.Advanced oral and written communication skills.Strong orientation to customer service and ability to work with other staff members in the facility.Results oriented individual with the ability to meet required sales goals.Excellent organizational, planning, communication, and inter-personal skills.Ability to undertake and complete multiple tasks.Excellent computer skills.NOTE: The essential responsibilities of this position are described under the headings above.
