Job Description Omni Los Angeles Hotel at California Plaza is seeking a dynamic individual to join our catering sales team. This role is eligible for Omni's Work From Home Program! Omni Hotels & Resorts values our associate’s work/life balance and supports WFH options for our specific sales, service, revenue management and leader roles. After 90 days of employment, Catering Sales Managers will be eligible to earn up to 2 WFH days/week. Please note, this program is at the sole discretion of the GM/DOSM, and has additional guidelines to adhere to. Responsibilities + Solicitation of direct-selling in the local catering market, primarily focusing on social, associations, galas, non-profit fundraisers. + Provide catering services for majority of in-house conventions. + Maximize Catering revenues from convention groups wherever possible and minimize erosion of check averages from price-sensitive groups. Communication of function-arrangement to all responsible hotel departments. Focus on upselling banquet menus, audio visual and guest rooms when appropriate. + Communication with clients prior to conventions to initiate, negotiate, and close contracts for all catered functions. + Creation of profitable menus and distribution of client expectations to Food & Beverage Departments. + Deliver all proposals within 24 hours. + Event planning and detailing for booked events + Coordinate Catering support services (flowers, entertainment, decoration, A/V, etc.) to provide complete client satisfaction. + Physically double-check all function arrangements against specifications of client. Correct where necessary. + Solicit spin-off catering events from conventions based at competing hotels. + Research and cost out new menu items, assist rooms salespersons in closing contracts. + Client contract and effective communication to ensure repeat bookings. + Update and increase client prospects in the Account Coverage Program. + Maximize revenues for the hotel through upselling techniques. + Other duties as assigned by Director of Catering. Qualifications + College degree preferred. + Dynamic, enthusiastic, creative leader who thrives under pressure and is able to perform multiple functions and troubleshoot when needed. + Command of the English language both written and verbal, with the ability to demonstrate warmth and empathy when engaging with others. + Must have proven selling, negotiating and presentation skills. + Highly developed customer service skills with strong attention to detail. + Proficient computer skills including but not limited to Microsoft Word, Power Point, Excel, and Outlook. Delphi experience preferred. + Must be able to work a flexible schedule including nights, weekends and holidays. + Proactively explore networking opportunities + Tools and Equipment: + Tables and chairs when assisting room set-ups. + Computer and printer, typewriter, telephone, pen/pencil, photo-copying machine,file folders, filing cabinet, facsimile machine + Working Environment: + Exterior of hotel with exposure to weather conditions + Interior of hotel, in normal office conditions.
