SUMMARY The R.T. is responsible for performing Invasive Vascular/Cardiac Cath/Hybrid OR procedures on patients of every age utilizing techniques to provide quality radiographs for physician interpretation. This position requires thorough knowledge of the application of sterile technique and equipment. Employee must maintain clinical competency in assigned areas of responsibility. RESPONSIBILITIES + Assisting the physician at the table or monitoring the patient’s condition in the control room area during these procedures + Must be knowledgeable in all the equipment and supplies that are used in these circumstances + Explains procedure to patients + Keeps the physician apprised of the patient’s condition, documenting the technical aspects of the procedure + Ability to move, trouble shoot and use complex digital imaging equipment + Prepares and administers contrast media + Practices and enforces radiation protection during the cases + • Assists physicians by scrubbing for invasive vascular and cardiac catheterization services + Assures that the procedure room is supplied with all necessary equipment for the case + Assists in transport of pre and post procedure patients as needed + • Must have exceptional knowledge of patient anatomy QUALIFICATIONS • Graduate of an accredited Radiologic Technology Program or Cardiovascular Technology Program • Must possess a current ARRT or RCIS Certification. SCRQSA required within 30 days of hire. • If RCIS certified MUST register with SC LLR and keep current. • Must maintain Basic Life Support (BLS) and obtain and/or maintain Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) • Clinical experience or instruction in vascular/interventional radiography and experience in a cardiac laboratory/OR Hybrid setting preferred • Ability to operate radiographic equipment and produce quality radiographs and store and retrieve the images is required.
