Cayuga Health System AVP of Clinical Transformation and Nursing Practice\n
Summary: Cayuga Health System AVP of Clinical Transformation and Nursing Practice will report directly to the System CNE and have oversight of strategic implementation and improvement of clinical care. The role will integrate clinical operational experience and evidence based practice to drive cohesive systemized plans for staff to deliver benchmark level care. This role will be responsible for prioritizing initiatives across the health system and guiding implementation of appropriate clinical changes amongst multiple organizations. The leader will leverage their expertise in process improvement, change management, and strategic planning, to ensure that the system clinical transformation initiatives are aligned with strategic goals, current clinical assessment and evidence- based practice to improve clinical outcomes in alignment with organizational financial and operational strategic goals. The role requires a complete understanding of factors influencing clinical operations in a health care system, as well as having the subsequent ability to improve clinical outcomes by analyzing data, prioritizing action and aligning plans with front line workflow processes and decision making models.\n

Roles and Responsibilities: (Tasks)\n
Communication & relationship management\n\nCommunicates effectively through appropriate channels among all levels of the nursing in the system to stream line and advance clinical practice. \nWorks closely with the Quality Department,- front line operational leaders or appropriate councils for meaningful, standardized and evidence based action plans. Ensures consistent practice between organizations to ensure evidence based solutions and regulatory compliance standards are incorporated throughout the system. \nCollaborate with interdisciplinary teams to enhance patient care coordination and ensure a high-quality systemized approach to practice changes and communications.\nDirects regular reporting of nursing quality and clinical practice metrics, inclusive of NDNQI, to front line staff and operational and senior leadership with the Nursing Quality Manager. Providing insights with recommendations for improvements. \nEnsures cohesive nursing representation in various organizational committees and workgroups focused on quality improvement, patient safety, infection control and clinical practice.\n\n

Knowledge\n\nEnsure nursing practice changes are aligned in compliance with relevant standards, such as The Joint Commission (TJC), Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS), and other accrediting bodies.\nLead the preparation and coordination of nursing and clinical practice audits and inspections.\nCollaborative working relationship with AVP of Nursing Finance and Budget, AVP of Nurse Informatics on behalf of operational leaders to ensure unit quality initiatives are aligned clinically and fiscally with the nursing strategic plan, organizational strategic plan and with optimization of EHR. \n\n
Leadership\n\nOversee the system development and delivery of professional development programs to promote nursing leadership, clinical expertise, and staff engagement at entry to practice for high reliable patient outcomes and retention.\nMentors front line managers and leaders to foster a culture of accountability, professionalism, and excellence in clinical care that drives top benchmark level care.\nCollaborate with the Nurse Education Department to implement nursing education programs that support competency\/competency tracking in clinical skills, leadership, and evidence-based practice that can be optimized throughout the system.\nEncourage and support a collaborative approach to nursing practice that involves staff in decision-making and continuous learning. \nEnsures clinical root cause analysis action plans and strategies to address near miss events are completed\n\n

Business skills\/Fiscal management\n\nCompiles and analyzes data to determine potential risk including expenses of HAC's and performance improvement plans for care modifications. \nCollaborates with AVP of Nursing Finance and Budget on vacancies and productivity impact to quality, assists with opportunities for viable budget models and resources available to support business and process improvement decisions.\nPartners with leaders to ensure new initiatives have ROI established and tracks\/trends projects ROI with quality initiatives and risk of not implementing initiatives. \nAchieves fiscal goals while planning, forecasts, organizes improvements in quality and care initiatives\n\n
Quality and Patient Satisfaction\n\nDevelops, monitors, analyzes and employs strategies to improve divisional outcomes and to promote high reliability and accountability in clinical practice that aligns with effective nursing care and clinical practice.\nWorks with provider community, clinical integration and quality to align clinical objectives for core clinical pathway initiatives in a collaborative meaningful efficient process that improves patient experience and health \nDirects the Nursing Quality Manager in prioritizing for data analysis and to guide nurse driven clinical indicator priorities based on the data. \n\n
Required Skills and Experience:\n\nBachelors of Science in Nursing (BSN) required\nA Master's degree required (MSN, MBA, MHA, or leadership focused)\nRN License in the State of New York\n8-10 years of acute care hospital experience as a Registered Nurse\nMinimum of 5 years of hospital leadership experience as a director with strong financial skills\nProven experience in leading clinical improvement initiatives within nursing and patient care services division\n\n

Physical Requirements: Repetitive use of hands and fingers (e.g., Use of computer keyboard); may require lifting and carrying light loads (up to 40 pounds), including boxes, equipment, IV solutions and stooping and kneeling (e.g., to pick up items from the floor, to remove and replace items on lower shelves and to file documents in lower file drawers); sitting, walking, or standing for long periods of time may be necessary; must be able physically to operate the equipment used for the job.\n

Pay Range Disclosure:\n\n$165,000 to $195,000 per year\n\n
