Job Summary The Center for Clinical and Translational Science (CCTS) is seeking a highly motivated, professional CCTS Biomarker Analysis Lab Manager to contribute to the variety of perspectives and excellence of our department and to assist the faculty and staff of our fast-paced research center. The CCTS supports campus research professionals to ensure they are able to meet their research goals and ultimately improve the health of our communities and populations. The CCTS’s vision is to catalyze clinical and translational discoveries through an integrated and transformative research environment targeting improved health, with emphasis on underserved populations in Kentucky. In support of that vision, the CCTS Biomarker Analysis Lab Manager will serve as a team member of the Clinical Research Organization.

Responsibilities for this position include the ability as Laboratory Manager to be responsible for the day-to-day operation and administration of the CCTS Biomarker Analysis Lab (CCTS-BAL). The Laboratory Manager will contribute to the success of CCTS by providing leadership, direction, and coordination of operations for BAL.Laboratory duties which include method selection, biomarker assay (electrochemiluminescent multi-plex immunoassays, ELISA), data analysis and data reporting. The manager insures test methodologies selected have the capability of providing quality results; ensure that quality control and quality assessment programs are established and maintained. The Laboratory Manager will create and maintain positive relationships with stakeholders – coordinating the activities of the Biomarker Analysis Lab across CCTS and the broader research community. Duties include support for muscle biopsy tissue collection; assisting physicians and nurses during the biopsy, ensuring the working area is prepared for tissue processing, assessing tissue for quality and quantity and reporting back to the physician, preparing and freezing high quality tissue bundles for histochemistry, freezing remaining tissue for RNA and protein. The Lab Manager will have supervisory responsibility for 1–2 employees.

Successful candidates will possess organizational skills, accuracy, focus, precision, technical and analytical skills, knowledge of regulatory requirements. This candidate will have leadership, ethical conduct, excellent communications and interpersonal skills.

Skills / Knowledge / Abilities Proficiency with immunoassays and data analysis, proficiency with MS Office Suite, familiarity with data analysis software and RedCap project management application. Strong organizational and teaching skills. Previous laboratory management preferred. Does this position have supervisory responsibilities?
