CDL Class B Driver

Job Summary

The Local CDL Driver is responsible for the safe driving and delivery of customer materials within a 100-mile radius from the assigned facility. Duties include, but are not limited to, driving the company truck to deliver orders to customers, the loading and unloading of materials, and duties assigned in the facility.  This position may also assist in the warehouse when not driving.

This position is regulated by the Department of Transportation (DOT) and designated as safety sensitive by the company. The ability to work in a constant state of alertness and in a safe manner is required. This position must have the ability to accept responsibility for their own safety, as well as the safety of others.

Key Responsibilities:

Drive and operate Class B straight truck with 26’ bed. Deliver orders/materials/product to customers, both internal and external, while following DOT and internal safety rules using the company truck. Loading and unloading of company truck and securing loads. Maneuver heavy materials with the use of a forklift, pallet jack, and/or hand truck. Assist in warehouse as needed. Comply with company and DOT policies and procedures giving special attention to safety regulations. Complete pre-trip inspections, know how to maintain a legal and accurate logbook, retain fuel and toll receipts, maintain cleanliness of truck cab, document and log work/rest periods, and complete post-trip inspections. Check gauges and visual indicators for malfunctions, ensure locks on trailers are working properly, and conduct inspection of vehicle before and during trips to determine problems that may be occurring and promptly report all problems to supervisor. Other duties as assigned.

 

Working Conditions:

Monday – Friday, 1st This position spends 15-25% of the time outside of the facility and 75-85% of time in the warehouse. This is subject to change. Personal protective equipment is regularly required for this position and may include steel or composite toe boots, safety glasses, and cut-resistant gloves and arm guards.
