CdTe Engineer

PRIMARY DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

•    Monitor day-to-day operations of the CdTe ingot manufacturing process.
•    Knowledgeable and capable of performing all CdTe process steps that include material preparations, growth, orientation, fabrication, and utility operations for single crystal CdTe modulators.
•    Review and Up-date written manufacturing procedures as required.
•    Review, monitor, and update process data files
•    Incorporate and enforce all department safety standards outlined in all process steps.
•    Monitor and upkeep of all department equipment with preventive maintenance
•    Maintain a clean and safe working environment

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE

•    B.S. in material science and engineering or similar field.
•    Knowledge of crystal growth and orientation.
•    1-5 years of experience in manufacturing environment.
 

SKILLS & OTHER REQUIREMENTS


•    Strong knowledge of material science disciplines of crystal growth, orientation and processing
•    Strong hand eye coordination
•    Strong written and verbal communication skills
•    Strong computer skills & fluent in Microsoft Office Suite
•    Good “customer first” mentality

WORKING CONDITIONS

•    Some hot work areas.
•    Furnace room work requires loading and unloading ingot at temperature.
•    Working with chemicals such as Cadmium, Tellurium, solvents, and acids.
•    Working with gases such as Oxygen and Hydrogen.
•    Working in a standard manufacturing environment.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS


•    Standing max 8hrs/day
•    Lifting 50lbs
•    Pushing/Pulling 50lbs
•    Sitting max 8hrs/day
•    Dexterity for working on equipment

SAFETY REQUIREMENTS

All employees are required to follow the site EHS procedures and COHERENT Corporate EHS standards.

•    PPE as required for chemical processing and equipment interactions.
•    Prior to employment, candidates must successfully pass a physical evaluation associated with the role wearing a respirator.
•    This position may be subject to an annual physical evaluation associated with Cadmium and respirator use.

Depending on location this position may be responsible for the execution and maintenance of the ISO 9000, 9001, 14001 and/or other applicable standards that may apply to the relevant roles and responsibilities within the Quality Management System and Environmental Management System.
