CDM Smith's CEI team is seeking a Chief Construction Inspector to inspect and monitor construction activities at the site. The Chief Construction Inspector is able to perform the most complex construction inspection activities for the 5 categories of inspection: 1) Roadway 2) Bridges 3) Drainage 4) Erosion & Control 5) Maintenance & Traffic. Works under limited supervision from higher level inspectors and engineers. May be the sole inspector on a small project. Work requires knowledge of materials, methods, and equipment used in highway construction; knowledge of geometry and basic mathematics; ability to read, interpret and explain construction plans and drawings, contract provisions, and specifications; and communications ability. Demonstrated ability to instruct other employees in proper work methods.

Job description:
- Performs complex and routine/standard inspections of construction to evaluate if appropriate materials and construction processes are used; and that construction conforms to plans, specifications, and special provisions. Uses higher grade of equipment and performs complex calculations to perform inspection. Works under limited supervision.
- Reviews drawings to prepare for the inspection. Understands the design of the construction that will be inspected.
- Plans the overall inspection and determines specific inspections to perform on small projects where Inspector is the sole inspector.
