CEI’s mission is to accelerate the adoption of a scalable and equitable clean energy future that will improve the health and economy of our state, nation, and world. CEI creates the ideas and educates the people needed to generate those innovations, while facilitating the pathways to bring them to market. The CEI Education Program Manager will play a key role in supporting CEI’s research and academic programs and managing CEI’s K-14 outreach programs in service to its mission and by interacting directly with CEI’s broader community. This Education Program Manager will manage in a manner aligned with CEI’s mission and strategic goals the operations of CEI’s academic programs. This position will collaborate with the Associate Director of Education & Workforce Engagement, CEI Graduate Fellows, and others to support an ambitious clean energy outreach program with regional and national visibility and develop high-quality and impactful clean energy educational content. This requires working knowledge of educational and broader impact best practices, a broad understanding of the clean energy field and CEI’s research areas, the ability to communicate with diverse audiences, and the ability to make decisions with independent judgement. This position also requires an understanding of pedagogy and emerging trends in education and the broader impacts of research. The Clean Energy Institute has high visibility within the UW, academia, and the local and global climate- tech community. It is funded by Washington state and has specific milestones and expectations to meet on an annual basis. CEI’s outreach and academic programs play an essential role in educating students and training teachers throughout Washington about clean energy solutions, enhancing UW’s impact in frontline communities and competitiveness for research grants, enhancing/increasing access to and affinity for STEM Careers, and engaging the public in CEI’s and UW’s missions. This position will interact with CEI’s diverse stakeholders including faculty, UW and non-UW students, and community partners in a way that is aligned with CEI’s mission and strategic goals. **DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES** Program Operations & Outreach + Oversee the operations of CEI’s signature outreach program for grades 4 through 12, Clean Energy Ambassadors to support team and student success (e.g., organize external requests for outreach, outreach material inventory, and master calendar of events). + Manage logistics for CEI education events (e.g., reserve rooms, order catering, and prepare registration and evaluation materials) with a team- and student-centered approach. + Manage Clean Energy Institute Interdisciplinary Seminar (~9 seminars/year) including travel arrangements, meeting schedule, conference room reservation, food and catering, announcement distribution following established processes and policies, and arranging honorarium payments to speakers. + Facilitate the Clean Energy Institute Interdisciplinary Seminar Course, soliciting speaker nominations from Institute members, coordinating nominations and invitation process, and maintaining the UW Canvas course. + Coordinate the Clean Energy Ambassadors’ calendar and staffing of outreach events. + Communicate respectfully and effectively with external and internal stakeholders, tracking input to better inform programmatic decisions. + Oversee development and execution of special events and projects as requested by Associate Director for Education & Workforce Engagement and CEI Leadership. + Manage the application process for CEI Education & Training Fellows who coordinate and facilitate Clean Energy Ambassador events. + Maintain accurate records of outreach events and statistics. + Develop educational curriculum for the Clean Energy Ambassador programs. + Ensure compliance with UW Youth Safety, APS 10.13 and other relevant local and federal policies. + Support operational tasks for CEI’s research experiences for undergraduates (REU) and teachers (RET) programs: attend recruitment events and develop advertisements to attract applications from a diverse applicant pool, independently coordinate research opportunities for participants, provide feedback and insights to inform evaluation. + Facilitate outreach events and tours for UW and non-UW undergraduate students designed to expand opportunity and access to STEM research and opportunities.Finance Administration & Support + Manage and monitor resource allocation for CEI programs and events, ensuring that all initiatives are executed in alignment with budgetary constraints. + Reconcile purchases and ProCard transactions according to UW policy. + Submit UW Connect Finance tickets and liaison with the Engineering Shared Environment (ESE) team on procurement, reimbursements, and payment requests. + Maintain a calendar of events, engagement opportunities, and relevant meetings for the CEI Education team. + Update and maintain accurate student databases. + Manage education related communications and meeting coordination, e.g. send scheduling polls, coordinate meeting invitations with internal and external partners, and manage shared inboxes. + Develop and implement effective solutions by analyzing existing workflows, identifying inefficiencies, and creating streamlined processes and standard operating procedures (SOPs) to enhance operational efficiency.Other + Other duties as assigned. + Participate in professional development to maintain working knowledge of educational and inclusive best practices. + Participate in college/school meetings and contribute to committees. + Serve on event teams to support large events, conferences and summer programs. + Facilitate the coordination of additional ad-hoc REU (Research Experiences for Undergraduates) and RET (Research Experiences for Teachers) cohorts for participating units within the Collaboration Core. **MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS** + Bachelor's degree relevant to Clean Energy, Science Education, and STEM Research such as Chemistry, Physics, Materials Science, Science Education, Chemical Engineering, Environmental science, or a related field AND 3 years’ experience. **Equivalent education/experience will substitute for all minimum qualifications except when there are legal requirements, such as a license/certification/registration.** **ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS** + Foundational knowledge of clean energy research and STEM education. + Experience developing and delivering student-centered educational programs and curriculum materials. + Experience teaching or working with K-14 students and teachers in formal or informal STEM educational settings. + Demonstrated commitment to justice, equity, diversity and inclusion and ability to form productive working relationships with students, staff and faculty from diverse backgrounds. + High level of professionalism, organization, scrupulous attention to detail, and the ability to manage workload, prioritize effectively. + Demonstrated ability to conceive, plan, and execute projects independently. + Flexibility and willingness to work under pressure of frequent deadlines and changing priorities in a high-volume academic setting. + Excellent oral and written communication skills. + Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work as part of a team. **DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS** + Postgraduate degree in education, sustainability, environmental science, or a related field. + Ability to design creative and novel approaches to
