Job Description

A Cell Culture Scietntist will assist clients in the Manufacturing Scientist and Technology Fermentation Group supporting cell culture and microbial organisms growth through fermentation and necessary recovery steps to isolate the products.

Responsibilities of this role may include:

Preparation of fermentation/ cell culture medium, passaging of of cells, aseptic technique, buffer solutions, consumable materials, etc. as needed to support experiment executionExecution of lab processes or pilot-scale using various scale platforms (250 mL to 150 L)Process development and characterizationScale-up and tech transfer to commercial manufacturingProcess simulation and modeling, process troubleshooting, qualification of alternate raw materials and components, new technology developmentOrganize technical data and provide oral presentations or technical reports to communicate results, as requiredUtilizing technical knowledge to identify, troubleshoot, and assist with resolution of process problems

QualificationsBachelor’s degree in Microbiology, Biology, Biochemistry or other science related degree concentrationA minimum of 4 years of industry experience is requiredExperience with cell culture, aseptic technique, and passaging of cells is required.Experience with direct fermentation product recovery (centrifugation, Ultrafiltration, Depth and Sterile Filtration) and extraction experience (Homogenization, pH titrations)Experience with fermenters at small scale or Pilot Scale in an industry-based setting is requiredExperience with operating and monitoring of fermentation equipment, centrifugation and performing sterile technique is requiredExperience with accurate pipetting and performing serial dilutions is requiredAuthorization to work in the United States indefinitely without restriction or sponsorship

Additional Information

Position is full-time,Monday- Friday 8:00-5:00pm with overtime as needed. Candidates currently living within a commutable distance of Sanford, NC are encouraged to apply.

Work on second or third shift to support fermentation operations may be required on a frequent basis. 

Weekend work may required on a periodic basis.
