The role you’ll contribute:

The Cell Therapy Technologist I is responsible for the processing of patient derived clinical and commercial cellular therapy products. This position participates in cutting edge adoptive cellular therapy treatments which include the processing of progenitor stem cell and/or immunotherapy products to return to patients. Follows appropriate safety policies including the appropriate use of PPE, handwashing, and hazardous chemical handling. Cell Therapy Technologists demonstrates understanding and adheres to Chemical Hygiene plan and Infection Control policies.

The CTT I is heavily involved in rapidly growing multiple clinical trials within the cell therapy areas and works closely with the Cellular Therapy Manager and/or research protocol Principal Investigators to ensure the timely and successful execution of procedures for specific research protocols, as assigned. This encompasses development of new analytic techniques and quality control metrics as appropriate for research protocol development.

Candidate will enter our cellular therapy training program, obtaining approximately six months of modular course work and on-the-job training in the following areas:

Hematopoiesis and Basic Immunology

Stem Cell Sources and Applications

Therapeutic Cells and Potential Applications

Assays and Assay Validation (including hematology testing, flow cytometry, cytokine testing, cell culture, dose calculations)

Aseptic Processing

Product Sterility and Environmental Monitoring

Product Potency and Efficacy

Manufacturing Technologies (including cell sorting, cell depletions, manipulations, cryopreservation, thawing and administration)

Technology Transfer (including receiving, shipping, labelling)

Regulations for Cellular Therapies

Donor Screening and Eligibility

Considerations for Product and Research Development.

PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

· Working with minimal supervision, perform cellular product processing using multiple processing and separation techniques.

· Complete qualitative and quantitative assays on cell therapy products.

· Comply with the facility’s standard operating procedures and policies which incorporate the cGTP, FDA and FACT regulatory standards applicable to cellular therapy product processing and analysis.

· Identify problems that may adversely affect product or testing performance and follow the Cell Therapy Facility standard operating procedures and policies whenever product processing or analytic testing are not within the defined acceptable criteria and/or levels of performance.

· Handle fresh and frozen cellular products for infusion and shipment.

· Maintain aseptic technique and work within a clean environment.

· Maintain equipment/records and perform quality assessment activities.

· Assists with data collection and special projects, as assigned.

· Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:

· Bachelor’s degree in medical technology or other Biological Science.
