Position Summary
To control access by all persons into and out of the secure perimeter of the facility. Monitors all safety and security systems within the facility including radio, fire, and other security systems.
The salary is:
1st shift $39,161 - $58,191
2nd/3rd shift $44,361-$63,391 which includes a shift differential.
Position Responsibilities
1. Controls and monitors access by all persons into and out of the secure perimeter of the Youth Services Center. Monitors safety and security systems within the facility including the visiting area, radio transmissions, and receiving/directing inbound calls, and monitor locations, where residents and staff are present via camera (excluding sleeping quarters, unless approved by Superintendent for suicide precautionary purposes).
2. Monitoring the entering and exiting of residents and staff.
3. Operate all electronic and fire emergency equipment located in Central Control and to contact emergency support agencies—fire, police, ambulance, etc., in event of an emergency.
4. To maintain the Center’s key control and handcuff control system. Complete daily key and radio accountability, fire, and evacuation drill, and completing prescribed reports and documentation accurately, neatly, and in a timely manner.
5. Will provide coverage at the reception lobby desk during the hours of 8a-4:30p, and during visitation hours. Will accept and screen incoming phone calls in Central Control when the lobby is not staffed.
6. Appropriately exchange information to incoming Central Control Staff.
7. All other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
High School Diploma or equivalent with college degree in human services related area or equivalent experience preferred. Must be 21 years of age. The ability to learn, master and use technology programs/databases is required. Good interpersonal relationship skills. Ability to professionally relate to YSC staff, professional staff, visitors, and youth. Shall use good judgment in handling confidential information and able to respond quickly with accuracy in crisis situations. Intermediate computer skills are essential, with ability to operate a computer database system. Must be able to perform the duties in both Central Control and Reception in a highly satisfactory manner with mastery of all platforms used in monitoring the security of the facility. Ability to handle multiple tasks in a periodically fast paced environment with various technology programs is required.
