Central Europe Business Services Team HR Senior Director
WHAT YOU'LL DO

BCG’s largest region, EMESA, spans 35+ countries in Europe, Middle East, Africa and South America, organized in 8 geographic Systems with more than 12,000+ employees.

As of 2022, our systems of BCG Switzerland, Germany & Austria as well as CEE have been united to form our new common region of BCG Central Europe (CE). In total, CE spans across seven European countries: Austria, Switzerland, Czech Republic, Germany, Hungary, Poland and Romania. Approximately 4,000 multinational employees are located in 13 offices such as Berlin, Budapest, Cologne, Dusseldorf, Frankfurt, Geneva, Hamburg, Munich, Prague, Stuttgart, Vienna, Warsaw and Zurich.

We are seeking a Central Europe Business Services Team HR Senior Director (CE BST HR Senior Director). You will report to the CE HR and Operations Executive Director.

As the CE BST HR Senior Director, you will design and lead all people management activities and processes for BST in Central Europe, including capacity management, talent management and development, EVP, and Employee Relations — covering all careers tracks in the CE BST organization (>710 FTE across Germany, Austria, Switzerland, Poland, Czech Republic, and Hungary).

You will provide services and support to the hosted functions and teams to help them recruit, retain, and develop the best possible talent and manage all processes in accordance with local labor law and standards. You will oversee and align with the HR teams across business entities and CE as well as global and regional functions to guarantee compliance with all standards in CE, risk management, and expertise sharing.

You will function as an expert, sparrings partner and advisor on ABM/SBU HR issues and exchange best practices and HR standards as required


YOU'RE GOOD AT

The CE BST HR Senior Director will:

Design and lead people management activities, including Recruiting, Onboarding, Talent & Performance Management in CE

Define and execute the strategic HR agenda for BST, focusing on developing measures to recruit, retain and develop the best possible talent

Develop strategic initiatives and participating in global or regional initiatives, leading change programs and overseeing communication (e.g. townhalls) and implementation of initiatives (in collaboration with CoEs such as Compensation & Benefits, Labour law, etc.)

Ensure best practice setting and continuous improvement based on employee feedback (e.g. People Survey, EVP Survey, Sounding Boards)

Act as strategic business partner for Function Heads & People Managers regarding functional development (e.g. talent needs, capability building, development) and organizational/change management

Be responsible for all BST capacity planning and management within CE and acting as first point of contact for Function Heads on capacity planning

Manage all employee relation topics (including mental health) and individual case management (e.g. investigations)

Serve as interface to regional and global HR counterparts as well as to other HR stakeholders in different business units (e.g. GSB)

Act as first point of contact for all HR BST related matters (e.g. questions regarding HR policies and guidelines)

Leadership and management of all HR processes, ensuring smooth collaboration across areas such as General HR, Recruiting, Performance and Talent Management incl. exit management

Chair career development committees for BST (CS, MSD)

Budget and manage costs within the area of responsibility

Professional and disciplinary leadership of the HR BST teams.


YOU BRING (EXPERIENCE & QUALIFICATIONS)

A university degree or equivalent in HR, business, or a related field, as well as extensive experience across HR and People topics.

15+ years of relevant work experience in HR, including senior leadership roles with a focus on People Management in a professional services environment.

Strong performance in a consulting staff role (senior PL (Project Leader) or Pr (Principal), or in a Director position.

Fluency in German and English with excellent verbal and written communication skills. German language required

Advanced communication skills: oral, written, and active listening (including senior leadership presentations/meetings).

Familiarity with navigating across BCG’s geographical structures, especially within CE, and experience working with various functions and with people at all organizational levels by setting up positive, productive, and lasting working relationships. You have effectively managed MDPs as major stakeholders and know the challenges of our business.

Empathy and inspiration in your leadership with experience in people and organisation as well as change management, especially in the professional services environment. You are known for trustworthiness and gravitas, can communicate at an equal level with senior leaders of the firm, and adapt your style to communicate also tough decisions.

Highest level of integrity.

Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities, knowing how and when to prioritize top-level concerns while remembering to plan for future issues.

Strong analytical and conceptual skills, along with the ability to package complex topics.

Balance in control and delegation; you are available and approachable.

Proven power to build effective teams and processes and plan for future resource needs.
