Central Processing Technician (FT Days) - Seacoast

Founded in 1906, McLeod Health is a locally owned and managed, not for profit organization supported by the strength of more than 900 members on its medical staff and more than 2,900 licensed nurses. McLeod Health is also composed of approximately 15,000 team members and more than 90 physician practices throughout its 18-county service area. With seven hospitals, McLeod Health operates three Health and Fitness Centers, a Sports Medicine and Outpatient Rehabilitation Center, Hospice and Home Health Services. The system currently has 988 licensed beds, including Hospice and Behavioral Health. The hospitals within McLeod Health include: McLeod Regional Medical Center, McLeod Health Dillon, McLeod Health Loris, McLeod Health Seacoast, McLeod Health Cheraw, McLeod Health Clarendon and McLeod Behavioral Health.

Must maintain professional conduct and appearance. 

Responsible for following (IFU) instructions for cleaning, sterilization and storage of surgical  instruments, including all vendor trays and  McLeod medical offices and internal departs that preforms minor procedures using reusable surgical instruments. Re- stocking sterile instruments in sterile core. Operating a variety of sterilization equipment. Monitors biologicals, washer test, and ultrasonic test, for quality Assurance.  

Cleans and maintains department work areas. Dons appropriate PPE before entering the decontamination room or handling contaminated equipment.   

Perform other duties as assigned.  

Demonstrates the ability to differentiate between a sterile and non-sterile items, must understand principles of sterilization and aseptic technique. 

Is familiar with steam, plasma, and autoclaves and its different cycles, pretest and appropriate biological monitoring per standards and policies. 

Must have interpersonal skills: must be able to work under stressful situations. 

 

Qualifications /Training: 

Must have six months to one year of experience working in a healthcare setting. Computer skills  

 

Licenses/Certifications/Registrations/Education: 

High school diploma or GED required. Will obtain a certification from the International Association of Healthcare Central Service Material Management (IAHCSMM) or Certification Board for Sterile Processing and Distribution, Inc. (CBSPD) within a two-year period.
