Ceramics / Glass Engineer II
Summary\r

We are seeking a highly motivated Engineer to join our Ceramics Materials Engineering team. In this role you will work individually and with teams to support on-going production, technology maturation, and research and development efforts mainly related to ceramic and glass material technologies. This role will interface closely with technical leaders within the Materials Engineering community, as well as the KCNSC site, to champion strategic and tactical initiatives related to current and future ceramic and glass materials.

Duties and Responsibilities\rProvide subject matter expertise knowledge (materials synthesis, processing, and characterization techniques) focused on ceramic and glass materials.Develop and execute materials research projects to support future system needs.Participate in establishing operating procedures on new materials, equipment, and/or components.Prepare product or project definition, manufacturing drawings, specifications, and equipment designs.Interact with design agencies, suppliers, and internal organizations to assist in resolving design, development, production, and acceptance issues.Generate accurate and precise analytical data or samples that may be used in formal reports, presentations, or for quality acceptance of components.Prepare reports, analyze discrepancies, make recommendations, and initiate improvements for materials, product, and procedures that improve productivity, quality, and reduce flowtime.Work across the KCNSC to support larger mission functions and objectives, ensuring the continuance of positive relationships between the NNSA, National Labs, and other key sites.Mentor early-in-career staff, technicians, and peers regarding technical processes, procedures, and business objectives.You Must Have\rBachelor of Science degree from an ABET accredited Engineering program or bachelors of science degree in Physics from and accredited program.Two or more years of relevant experience in engineering, analytical, or related technical activities.Ability to travel up to 10% of the time.Ability to work remote, hybrid, or on-site as directed by management and is determined by the needs of the business.United States Citizenship.Regular and reliable attendance is an essential function of this job.Ability to obtain and maintain, if required for position, a U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) security clearance (some positions require additional DOE designations).We Value\rDemonstrated analytical skills, mathematical computations, computer software applications, and written documentation.Demonstrated established technical methodologies to routine engineering projects.Experience managing internal business processes and guiding documentation.Experience managing material specification changes.Experience managing and forecasting project budgets.Ability to work independently with little to no supervision on all job responsibilities.Strong communication skills.
