Position TitleCertified Diabetes Educator DieticianVaries - PRNOlathe Medical Center The Doctors Building 1 (MOB 1 & 2) 20375 W. 151st St.Position Summary / Career Interest:The Diabetes Educator educates patients with diabetes on meal planning and general diabetes self-management education. They participate in the development and implementation of new/current nutrition and education programs. The Diabetes Educator assists in maintaining ADA accreditation and continuous quality improvement projects.
Responsibilities and Essential Job Functions
Be available in clinic most days of the week for additional one-on-one teaching as needed (e.g., instruction on insulin pen use, glucometers, insulin pump)Conduct DSME and/or nutrition clinics 4 days per weekCoordinate, manage, and teach group diabetes education classCoordinate/implement other external events as appropriateCreate and implement an annual Diabetes Day event Create and implement CQI projects (a requirement of ADA recognition)Assist the Education Coordinator with maintaining ADA recognition Help with coordination and teaching of other classes (e.g., Managing Diabetes and Pump Preview)Helps maintain ADA recognition and keep up to date Work closely with the administrative staff on scheduling and other matters Work with vendors for samples and updatesMust be able to perform the professional, clinical and or technical competencies of the assigned unit or department.These statements are intended to describe the essential functions of the job and are not intended to be an exhaustive list of all responsibilities.
