Certified Hand Therapist

We are looking for a talented Hand Therapist to join our growing team at Inova Physical Therapy. We are located at 46000 Center Oak Plaza #250, Sterling, VA. This position is full time, M-F, 40 hours a week and must be able to work two late evenings until 7:00. We offer a 1 x 1 patient service model!

Certified Hand Therapist Job Responsibilities:

 

Completes daily progress notes that reflect patient responses to treatment, actual performance, assessment of status relevant to the treatment plan, eventual discharge needs, and treatment summaries, as evidenced by chart review. Documents clearly, concisely, and legibly within established time-frames (e.g. allows other therapists to continue treatment, allows for interpretation by payors, and supports reimbursement), as evidenced by chart review. Communicates effectively with patients, family, medical staff, care team members, students, supervisors and outside contacts. Contacts families, physicians, or other healthcare team members in anticipation of special patient/family needs in a timely manner to facilitate effective treatment plans, as evidenced by observation, chart review, and team feedback. Develops goals and treatment plans that reflect the evaluation findings and are prioritized based on input from patients, family, and team. Formulates comprehensive treatment plans to improve the functional status of patients and addresses the reason for referral, as evidenced by chart review. Provides clinical mentoring and operational guidance, education, and/or supervision to new or less experienced staff, students, and support personnel in areas of hand therapy and/or upper quarter rehabilitation. Applies knowledge of therapeutic techniques during the evaluation and throughout the course of treatment while adjusting the treatment plan regularly/appropriately as patient status changes. Demonstrates current knowledge of the application of therapeutic techniques and evaluation methods as evidenced by documentation, medical records, and observation.

Certified Hand Therapist Additional Requirements:

Certification - Basic Life Support Upon Start- Must be from the AMERICAN HEART ASSOCIATION

Licensure - Eligible for Virginia Licensure Physical Therapist or Occupational Therapist

Experience - 5 years of experience as an Occupational or Physical Therapist; Experience to include a minimum of two years in the application of custom splinting pre and post-op orthopedic and two years in adult rehabilitation (hand and splinting only)

Education - Bachelor's Degree in Occupational or Physical Therapy- Masters Preferred
