Certified Hand Therapist - OUTPATIENT

The certified hand therapist is directly responsible to the Director or his designee, and has the responsibility for overall direction, implementation, and delivery of therapy to the hand patient. Minimum Education: Bachelor's of Science Degree in Occupational Therapy or Physical Therapy. Licensure, Registration and/or Certification: Licensed as a Certified Hand Therapist. Work Experience: 5 - 7 years related experience. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: Good communication, interpersonal and reasoning skills. Basic computer skills, as well as adaptability and ability to multi-task. Essential Functions and Responsibilities: Provides appropriate clinical patient care in specific discipline and in hand therapy specialty. Provides documentation by maintaining appropriate treatment records and completes accurate daily patient charges. Demonstrates competency in UE splinting and fabrication. Meets criteria to maintain technical expertise through: Attendance and participation in continuing education activities, departmental in-services, and keeping abreast of technical advances, keeping certification. Provides instruction (teaching) to patients, family members, clinical staff, students and other healthcare providers. Follows guidelines for daily operations, assists other therapists as appropriate, and meets productivity expectations. Decision Making: Independent judgment in making decisions from many diversified alternatives that are subject to general review in final stages only. Working Relationships: Coordinates activities of others. Leads others in same work performed. Has input on performance evaluations but does not prepare or give. Works directly with patients and/or customers. Works with internal customers via telephone or face to face interaction. Works with external customers via telephone or face to face interaction.
